Boundary-Constrained Supervoxel Clustering for Tree Segmentation in Broadleaf Forests [PDF]

open access: yesISPRS Annals of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences
Accurate segmentation of individual trees from Airborne Laser Scanning (ALS) point clouds is essential for urban greening management, ecological conservation, and biodiversity assessment.

Individual Segmentation of Intertwined Apple Trees in a Row via Prompt Engineering

open access: yesSensors
Computer vision is of wide interest to perform the phenotyping of horticultural crops such as apple trees at high throughput. In orchards specially constructed for variety testing or breeding programs, computer vision tools should be able to extract phenotypical information form each tree separately. We focus on segmenting individual apple trees as the

Intrapatient tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution in an autopsy study of metastatic salivary gland cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution of metastatic salivary gland cancer were evaluated in two patients with adenoid carcinoma and one patient with myoepithelial carcinoma. Radiology‐guided autopsy enabled multi‐region sampling (total samples n = 149), followed by whole‐genome sequencing and phylogenetic reconstruction (17 tumour samples, 4–7 per ...

Optimization Method of Airborne LiDAR Individual Tree Segmentation Based on Gaussian Mixture Model

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
Forests are the main part of the terrestrial ecosystem. Airborne LiDAR is fast, comprehensive, penetrating, and contactless and can depict 3D canopy information with a high efficiency and accuracy. Therefore, it plays an important role in forest ecological protection, tree species recognition, carbon sink calculation, etc.

Accurate and noninvasive prostate cancer detection using plasma‐derived extracellular vesicle RNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plasma extracellular vesicles were captured with WGA‐conjugated magnetic beads and profiled for RNA biomarkers. A three‐RNA panel (NM_024955, NR_047469, and NR_002564) distinguished prostate cancer from healthy controls and benign prostatic hyperplasia, supporting a simple, noninvasive approach to improve prostate cancer detection.

Oblique view individual tree crown delineation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Earth Observations and Geoinformation, 2021
Individual tree crown (ITC) segmentation supports numerous applications in forest management and ecology. In the latter context, special attention is dedicated to the study of angular reflection effects, caused by the interaction of incident sunlight ...

Heterotropic regulation and negative homotropic cooperativity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We identified a structural module common to some proteins that couple negative cooperativity with heterotropic regulation, two features that rarely coexist. These proteins are ring‐like and present an ordered asymmetry whereby noncontacting subunits are symmetric, and their tertiary structure differs from that of contacting subunits.

3D-CNN BASED TREE SPECIES CLASSIFICATION USING MOBILE LIDAR DATA [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2019
Our work addresses the problem of classifying tree species from mobile LiDAR data. The work is a two step-wise strategy, including tree segmentation and tree species classification. In the tree segmentation step, a voxel-based upward growing filtering is

A minimal cellulosome‐like system in Cellulosilyticum lentocellum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cellulose‐degrading bacteria typically use cellulosomes, large multi‐enzyme complexes on a scaffold protein. In Cellulosilyticum lentocellum, we characterise a far smaller arrangement, a single scaffold bound to one cellulase through a single cohesin‐dockerin interaction.

Assessment of tree detection and segmentation pipelines for terrestrial laser scanning dataset of orange orchards [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences
This paper discusses the challenges faced by current tree segmentation pipelines in accurately detecting and performing coarse-to-fine segmentation of individual trees from terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) point clouds acquired in fruit-bearing crops ...
