A source of individual variation

Neurocomputing, 2003
Abstract Even though behavioral experiments are usually conducted in a manner that minimizes variance between subjects, such variance is unavoidable—even when working with a homogenous population. A first step in producing a quantitative understanding of what causes this variation is a biologically based neural network model that reproduces the ...

Individual Variation in Response to Thiopental

Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, 1978
The anaesthetic records of 540 patients operated on during a 3‐week period were studied. The purpose was to elucidate the influence of age, sex, concentration of haemoglobin, creatinine concentration in serum, heart disease, and the premedication given on the size of the induction dose of thiopental.

Individual variations of visual information

Neuron, 2022
In this issue of Neuron, Shah et al. reveal that coding of visual space by the primate retina varies across individuals and sexes. A computational model provides insight into themes and variations of coding. Implications for sight restoration are explored.

Individual variation in the response to phenprocoumon

European Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, 1977
In nine patients, the synthesis rate Rsyn of the vitamin K-dependent clotting factors was calculated from changes in prothrombin-complex activity after intravenous administration of a synthesis-blocking dose of phenprocoumon (PPC). The biological half-life of PPC was between 2.70 and 7.01 days.

Individual variation in susceptibility to cybersickness

Proceedings of the 27th annual ACM symposium on User interface software and technology, 2014
We examined background characteristics of virtual reality participants in order to determine correlations to cybersickness. As 3D media and new VR display technologies from companies such as Occulus and Sony become more popular, the incidence of cybersickness is likely to increase.

Genetic Variation and Individualized Medicine

Journal of Sport Rehabilitation, 2010
Translational research uses laboratory results to develop and test practical applications for clinicians. Clinical researchers are increasingly collaborating with basic scientists to improve clinical outcomes by examining the mechanisms underlying injuries and responses to treatments.

Individual Variation in Measures of Voice

Phonetica, 1994
Abstract Measures of inferred subglottal air pressure, glottal airflow waveform characteristics, sound pressure level (SPL) and the acoustic spectral slope were studied for individual speakers with normal voices. Combinations of different levels of sub-glottal air pressure and varying glottal configurations could result in the same SPL ...

Experience during development triggers between‐individual variation in behavioural plasticity

Journal of Animal Ecology, 2018
Behavioural consistency within and across behaviours (animal personality and behavioural syndrome, respectively) has been vigorously studied in the last decade, leading to the emergence of "animal personality" research. It has been proposed recently that

Individual Variations in Drug Responses

Urologic Nursing, 2010
This article provides an overview of the modifiable and non-modifiable variables that influence drug responses. Knowledge of these issues need to be known by nurses to assure adequate medication is prescribed and treatment adherence occurs.
