Deformation of the Upper Oceanic Crust in the Outer Rise of the Sumatra Subduction Zone: Insights From P‐ and Doubly Converted S‐Wave Arrivals on Downward Continued Streamer Data

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 1, 16 January 2026.
Abstract The structure and properties of mature upper oceanic plates may evolve through mechanisms such as magmatism, hydrothermal circulation, and faulting. However, high‐resolution constraints, especially those involving both P‐ and S‐waves, remain scarce, limiting our ability to detect these processes and assess their impacts on crustal properties ...

Delayed Tropical Asian Summer Monsoon Onset in Recent Decades

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 1, 16 January 2026.
Abstract This study reveals that the onset of tropical Asian summer monsoon (TASM) experienced a pronounced interdecadal delay (about one week) after the late‐2000s. Both the large‐scale seasonal transition reflected by EOF analysis and the monsoon onset dates defined by local rainfall exhibited a clear interdecadal change.

Characteristics of Antarctic Stratospheric Variability During Winter: A Case Study of the 2024 Sudden Stratospheric Warming and Its Surface Impacts

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 1, 16 January 2026.
Abstract In mid‐winter 2024, extraordinary stratospheric warming occurred over the sub‐Antarctic region with two distinctive warming maxima in mid‐July to early August, followed by record negative anomalies in the southern annular mode (SAM) during late July to early August.
