High Light Utilization and Color Rendering in Vacuum‐Deposited Semitransparent Perovskite Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, low bandgap (≈1.55 eV) semitransparent perovskite solar cells (ST‐PSCs) having thin (thickness < ≈100 nm) perovskite layers and transparent conductive oxide‐based rear electrodes are fabricated using vacuum‐deposition methods. Two different ST‐PSCs demonstrated a high light utilization efficiency value of 4.2 (PCE: 9.26% and AVT: 45.3 ...

Elephant‐Skin‐Inspired Porous Cementitious Tiles with Programmable Crack Networks for Passive Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Elephant‐skin‐inspired crack networks are programmed in porous diatomaceous earth (DE)‐cement composites using substrate‐guided, stress‐concentration induced fracture. The resulting crack lattices act as capillary conduits that redistribute water, while the porous matrix stores moisture.

Rapid inactivation of aerosolised influenza virus using low-concentration gaseous hypochlorous acid

open access: yesScientific Reports
Effective infection control measures are crucial for limiting pathogen transmission, including aerosol infections. Several instances of the use of hypochlorous acid solution spray to inactivate airborne viruses have been reported.

A cold storage air conditioning system with energy-efficient supercooled water ice slurry generation by using heat recovery and regeneration [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Ice slurry cold storage technology using supercooled water is considered one of the most efficient methods. In traditional systems, to prevent ice crystal blockage in the supercooled water exchanger, the water from ice tank is typically heated to 0.5°C ...

Impact of room airflow interaction on metabolic CO2 exposure [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
CFD simulations were performed to investigate occupants’ exposure to metabolic CO2 in a room with mechanical ventilation. A meeting room occupied by six adult people performing sedentary activity was simulated. Five of the six occupants were simulated to

Development of limiting dilution viability pcr method to assess the effectiveness of selected biocides to treat indoor fungi growth [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Indoor fungal contamination should be treated with cost-effective and green methods. Biocides have direct biological effect on living organisms but the evidence on their control of indoor fungal contamination is scarce.

What Can I Do Around Here? Deep Functional Scene Understanding for Cognitive Robots

open access: yes, 2016
For robots that have the capability to interact with the physical environment through their end effectors, understanding the surrounding scenes is not merely a task of image classification or object recognition.

Efficient Self‐Cleaning and Anti‐Bacterial Behavior Realized by Hierarchical Structure in Hybrid Waterborne Polyurethane Coatings Containing Photocatalyst

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Hybrid WPU coatings with a hierarchical structure are constructed by first directional freezing polymerization of degradable hydrogels with a vertical channel structure and then filling these channels with aqueous WPU solution containing carbon nitride (g‐C3N4) nanosheets.

Morphology‐Controlled Silica Nanoparticle Coatings for Transparent Radiative Cooling

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Transparent radiative cooling coatings are achieved by immobilizing solid and hollow silica spheres on glass. Particle morphology within sub‐monolayer coatings is shown to govern the trade‐off between visible and atmospheric window reflectance. Hollow‐sphere structures enable reduced thermal emission losses while preserving transparency, highlighting ...
