In this article, a water‐evaporation driven energy harvester is devised that works even in the absence of sunlight. This is achieved by combining PVA hydrogel with thermoelectrics (TEG) to directly capture energy from water evaporation. Under mild conditions (RH 40%, T of 26 °C, and 2.8 m s−1 wind), 1.71 mW (1.02 W m−2) power can be generated, >3 fold ...

Novel ferrocene derivatives (e.g., FcPhc2) are used as an ultrathin layer hole‐blocking layer, reducing hole injection from the Ag contact. This results in an ultralow noise spectral density of 1.2 × 10−14 A Hz−1/2, and a high specific detectivity of 8.1 × 1012 Jones at −0.5 V.

Reconciling airborne disease transmission concerns with energy saving requirements: the potential of UV-C pathogen deactivation and air distribution optimization [PDF]
The COVID-19 pandemic caused a paradigm shift in our way of using heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems in buildings. In the early stages of the pandemic, it was indeed advised to reduce the reuse and thus the recirculation of indoor air to minimize the risk of contamination through inhalation of virus-laden aerosol particles ...

Indoor air quality and academic performance [PDF]
I examine the effect of school indoor air quality (IAQ) on academic outcomes. I utilize a quasi-natural experiment, in which IAQ-renovations were completed at virtually every school in a single Texas school district at different points in time, combined with a panel of student-level data to control for many confounding factors and thereby uncover the ...
