Fast localization in indoor environments

2009 IEEE Symposium on Computational Intelligence for Security and Defense Applications, 2009
In this paper, we propose an algorithm for fast indoor localization. The algorithm does not require any sensors to be installed; instead, localization is determined using image matching. Our system studies (or learns) the indoor environment through detecting image junctions using the so-called JUDOCA detector.

Childhood Asthma and the Indoor Environment

Chest, 1991
To investigate the influence of indoor air quality on respiratory health, a questionnaire-based study of 17,962 Canadian schoolchildren in kindergarten through grade 2 was carried out in 1988. The present report focuses on associations between several indoor environmental factors and childhood asthma.

Assessing Human Exposure to Organic Pollutants in the Indoor Environment.

Angewandte Chemie, 2018
There is an ongoing probing of the role of chemicals in the indoor environment. The majority of potential target substances are so-called very volatile, volatile, and semi-volatile organic compounds (VVOCs, VOCs, and SVOCs).

3D reconstruction of indoor environments

Proceedings of 3rd IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2002
This paper presents a new 3D scene analysis system that automatically reconstructs the 3D model of real-world scenes from multiple range images acquired by a laser range finder on board of a mobile robot. The reconstruction is achieved through an integrated procedure including range data acquisition, geometrical feature extraction, planning the next ...

Organophosphate triesters in indoor environments

Journal of Environmental Monitoring, 2005
In this study the occurrence of ten organophosphate triesters in indoor air at 29 different locations was investigated. They were detected at all locations and a total of ten compounds were identified. The predominant compounds were the chlorinated compounds tris(chloroisopropyl) phosphate and tris(2-chloroethyl) phosphate with a concentration around 2

Dynamic modeling of an indoor environment

Proceedings of IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2002
Proposes to exploit an uncertain man-made representation of an indoor environment. The problem of uncertainties valuation is solved by a human behavior modeling which consists in using proximity relations between the geometrical primitives of the objects.

Performance of OQPSK in indoor environment

Proceedings of IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC), 2002
The paper evaluates the performance of a transmission system with OQPSK (offset quadrature phase shift keying) modulation and an adaptive decision feedback equalizer (DFE) in an indoor environment. A model of the slowly time-varying indoor radio channel is used to assess how much a DFE improves the bit error rate of coherently demodulated OQPSK.
