Indoor and soil radon measurements in the Hyblean Foreland (South-East Sicily)

open access: yesAnnals of Geophysics, 2007
Indoor radon behavior in two sites of SE Sicily was studied as a function of the soil radon concentration. The chosen locations were Ragusa and Modica towns, placed in the Hyblean Plateau (northern margin of the African Plate).

Intuitive Multi‐Scale Visual Feature Fusion for Automated Classification of Human Activity

open access: yesIET Cyber-Physical Systems: Theory &Applications, Volume 11, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
Feature Extraction Block Time series data consists of variables that exhibit significant temporal correlation with neighbouring ones and are utilised to gather information on human activity through cellphones and wearable technology. Convolutional kernels, viewing each part of the sensor data as separate, extract features from these distinct segments ...

Attention‐Based Fusion of Pretrained MaskPoint and Point‐MAE Representations for Enhanced Point Cloud Classification

open access: yesIET Image Processing, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
This paper presents an attention‐based fusion framework that combines complementary self‐supervised representations learned by Point‐MAE and MaskPoint for 3D point cloud classification. Features from the pretrained encoders are fused using multi‐layer attention and cross‐attention mechanisms, with cross‐attention achieving the highest classification ...

222Rn and 220Rn Levels in Drinking Water, the Related Health Implications, and Influencing Environmental Parameters in the Volcanic Area of Nkongsamba, Cameroon

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Soil Science, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Radon (222Rn) and thoron (220Rn), both naturally occurring radioactive gases, are significant contributors to radiation exposure, posing risks such as lung and stomach cancer. This study assesses radon and thoron concentrations in drinking water sources within the volcanic region of Nkongsamba, Cameroon.

Analysis and Validation of a Real‐Time AR‐IoT Training System via Nonlinear Dynamical Modeling

open access: yesComputational and Mathematical Methods, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This paper presents a formally validated real‐time AR‐IoT firearm training framework, in which classical control‐theoretic tools are embedded as a system‐level validation layer rather than as novel theoretical contributions. Unlike prior AR‐based training systems that rely primarily on heuristic or empirical design, the proposed framework introduces a ...

Data on the effect of geological and meteorological parameters on indoor radon and thoron level- case study: Kermanshah, Iran

open access: yesData in Brief, 2018
The present study was aimed to evaluate the relationship between indoor radon and thoron concentrations, geological and meteorological parameters. The radon and thoron concentrations were determined in three hospitals in Kermanshah, the west part of Iran,

Indoor radon in Slovenia

open access: yesNuclear Technology and Radiation Protection, 2003
The Slovenian Radon Programme started in 1990. Since then, radon and radon short-lived decay products have been surveyed in 730 kindergartens, 890 schools, 1000 randomly selected homes, 5 major spas, 26 major hospitals, 10 major municipal water supply plants, and 8 major wineries.

Ventilation approaches and radon control in Canadian houses

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
IntroductionBalanced mechanical ventilation with heat (sensible heat only) or energy (sensible and latent heat) recovery has the potential to dilute indoor radon and may be an appropriate first step at reducing moderate indoor radon concentration in a ...

Estimation of radon potential through measurement of uranium concentrations in granite geology

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Science, 2019
The geology of an area can be used as a predictor for radon potential. Granite rock typically contains a high concentration of uranium and subsequent elevated emanation of radon gas.

Risk assessment of radon in the South Dayi District of the Volta Region, Ghana

open access: yesJournal of Radiation Research and Applied Sciences, 2018
Radon is a globally present and known radioactive gas with its ability to cause lung cancer as its major health implication. Ghana currently lacks national policies on radon gas and substantive radon vulnerability map largely due to lack of adequate ...
