Palaeogeography of Late Triassic red-beds in Singapore and the Indosinian Orogeny
Journal of Asian Earth Sciences, 2013Abstract A red-bed facies of the Upper Triassic Jurong Formation has been logged on Sentosa Island, Singapore. An overall coarsening and thickening-upward pattern is well developed. The lower part of the section is dominated by purple-red, massive to finely laminated illite–smectite–kaolin-rich mudstones containing thin, discontinuous lenses of fine ...

The Khao Khwang fold-and-thrust belt, central Thailand, developed within a basin that formed on the southwestern margin of the Indochina block. Because of limited geochronological and provenance constraints, the time of deposition, sediment source location, and tectonic significance of the basin have been uncertain.

Dating Tectonism in the Indosinian–Thai–Malayan Orogen by Thermoluminescence
Geological Society of America Bulletin, 1968The thermoluminescence “ages” of a large and representative selection of limestone specimens from the Thai-Malayan geosyncline, ranging in stratigraphic age from Ordovician to Triassic, are related, not to stratigraphic age, but to tectonic and magmatic events in the Mesozoic Indosinian-Thai-Malayan orogeny.

Abstract To advance our understanding of the kinematics of the Xuefengshan tectonic belt (XFSTB) and the Mesozoic tectonics of the South China Block (SCB), this paper presents new data and interpretations from our structural studies and thermochronological dating.

Indosinian Foreland Fold‐and‐Thrust Belt Bordering Yunnan and Guangxi, China
Acta Geologica Sinica - English Edition, 2001Abstract Recent discoveries of ophiolites indicate that there must be a Palaeotethyan geosuture zone bordering China and Vietnam, which separates the Vietbac block from the South China subcontinent. The Indosinian foreland fold‐and‐thrust belt bordering Yunnan and Guangxi provided further evidence for the palaeotethysides.

Abstract The structure of the mylonite belt in the southwestern part of the Ogcheon belt has been investigated and interpreted in the light of recent radiometric data. The shear belt is composed of several en-echelon dextral shear zones relayed by compressional or extensional tectonic bridges.

Abstract The Indosinian orogeny marks the termination of marine deposition and the accumulation of lower Permian to Late Triassic clastic sediments in the Youjiang Basin, South China Block. Major and trace element compositions of Early to Middle Triassic sedimentary clastic rocks from Youjiang Basin were analysed to constrain their provenance and ...

Results from a zircon U-Pb study of the metamorphic basement of Vietnam reveal that a large part of the continental crust was affected by a short-lived episode of ductile deformation and high-temperature metamorphism between 258 ± 6 Ma and 243 ± 5 Ma.

Based on the detailed petrographic study, the characteristics of source region of the Weiya gabbro and tectonic implications were studied. The results show that the gabbroic rock consists mainly of gabbro, with less amount of ultra-mafic rocks. The ultra-mafic rocks show cumulate texture and are gradually transitional contact with gabbro, indicating ...

Upper Permian to Middle Triassic sedimentary rocks in the Youjiang Basin, SW China, record a change from a within-plate mafic-dominated source to the NW, to a mixed source involving magmatic arc and recycled orogenic detritus that lay to the west and east.
