Intracontinental subduction: a possible mechanism for the Early Palaeozoic Orogen of SE China

open access: yes, 2009
International audienceThe Early Palaeozoic Orogen of SE China consists of three litho-tectonic elements, from top to bottom: a sedimentary Upper Unit, a metamorphic Lower Unit and a gneissic basement.

Geochemical Constraints on the Generation of Coalbed Methane in the Weizhou Area, South‐Central Ningxia, NW China: Insights From Stable Isotopes and Organic Petrology

open access: yesGeofluids, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Amid growing global clean energy demand, coalbed methane (CBM) in the coal‐rich Weizhou area holds great development value. This study explores Weizhou CBM′s geochemical traits and genesis via analyzing gas compositions (Shanxi and Taiyuan Formations), stable isotopic distributions (δ13C1, δD, δ13CO2, and δ15N), and their burial depth variations ...

The Mesozoic tectono-magmatic evolution at the Paleo-Pacific subduction zone in West Borneo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Metamorphic and magmatic rocks are present in the northwestern part of the Schwaner Mountains of West Kalimantan. This area was previously assigned to SW Borneo (SWB) and interpreted as an Australian-origin block.

The Controlling Effect of Synsedimentary Normal Faults on Regional Gas Occurrence

open access: yesGeofluids, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Taking the Guodishan Fault as an example, the regional geological evolution background and measured gas parameters were analyzed, and the gas occurrence characteristics in the region and the control effect of synsedimentary faults on regional gas were studied.

Tectonic Fracture Characterization and Stress Analysis in Complex Fault Block Formations: A Case Study in the Second Member of Dengying Formation in Central Sichuan

open access: yesGeofluids, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
The Dengying Formation within Pengtan 1 well area in the Sichuan Basin is a vital gas reservoir for exploration and development. The reservoir is situated in a complex fault block structure characterized by multistage fault evolution, leading to a complicated distribution of tectonic fractures crucial for the accumulation and migration of oil and gas ...

Amphibian Biodiversity and Distribution Changes From the Paleozoic in China

open access: yesJournal of Zoological Systematics and Evolutionary Research, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Vertically exploring the animals’ biodiversity and distribution change trajectories and horizontally demonstrating their association with the existing floral structures are critically required to integrally analyze their biodiversity changes and predict their future survival trends.

Distributary channel type and high‐quality reservoirs in tight sandstone—A case study on the outcrops and reservoirs of Xujiahe formation in Western Sichuan Basin

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 12, Issue 11, Page 5119-5144, November 2024.
Pattern of underwater distributary channel model and relationship between distributary channel type and high‐quality reservoir in outcrop profile. It is helpful in the evaluation of high quality reservoirs. Abstract The distributary channels in shallow‐water delta are well‐developed in tight sandstone.

Neogene‐Recent Reactivation of Pre‐Existing Faults in South‐Central Vietnam, With Implications for the Extrusion of Indochina

open access: yesTectonics, Volume 43, Issue 4, April 2024.
Abstract Vietnam contains complex faults coupled with a diffuse igneous province that has been active since the mid‐Miocene. However, existing fault maps demonstrate little consensus over the location of Neogene basalt flows and relative ages of mapped faults, which complicates interpretations of tectonic model for the evolution of Indochina.
