Integration of OpenCV‐Based Microscopic Adhesive Volume Measurement Into a Pyiron Workflow for Automated Data Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Residual adhesive after electrode loading in adhesive‐assisted resistance spot welding is quantified through a traceable experimental‐to‐digital workflow. Chromatic confocal topography provides calibrated surface‐height data, while OpenCV detects the electrode imprint and integrates adhesive height into comparable volume metrics.

Microstructure Modification of Additively Manufactured Mo–9Si–8B by Annealing and Its Effects on High‐Temperature Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Postbuild annealing systematically modifies the phase fractions and morphology of EB‐PBF processed Mo–9Si–8B. Quantitative microstructure–property correlations reveal how controlled phase evolution enhances high‐temperature compressive strength and creep resistance.

Material property changes during electrohydrodynamic (EHD) drying a closer look into the falling rate periodYODA

open access: yesCurrent Research in Food Science
Electrohydrodynamic (EHD) drying offers an alternative to hot air drying thanks to its lower energy use and lower operating temperatures. EHD drying benefits from enhanced convection induced by the corona wind, but during the falling-rate period is ...

Investigating the Effect of Inclination Angle and the Influence of Scan Parameters on the Appearance and Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Filigree Tension Rods of LPBF‐Manufactured NiTi Shape‐Memory Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article investigates the dependence of the properties on the manufacturing orientation in the form of the inclination angle to the build plate of LPBF‐fabricated NiTi rods with a diameter of 150–220 µm. Metallographic, chemical, thermal, and mechanical characterization show behavior under identical manufacturing conditions that ranges from ...

Entropy‐Driven Design of Low‐Melting‐Point Alloys via Compositionally Complex Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Conventional low‐melting‐point alloys (LMPAs) are limited by a narrow compositional space and inherent property trade‐offs. This review presents an entropy‐driven design strategy that overcomes these limitations, ushering in a new class of low‐melting‐point compositionally complex alloys (LMCCAs).

APPLICATION OF DISLOCATION-INDUCED ELECTRIC POTENTIALS IN Si AND Ge

open access: yesLe Journal de Physique Colloques, 1979
Utilization of dislocation electric barrier (DEB) in semiconductors for fundamental research purposes, as well as DEB device application is considered. Analyzing the DEB temperature dependence new qualitative information on dislocation energy states is obtained. Determination of dislocation density by electrical measurements is proposed.

Electro-Optical Behavior of Nematic Liquid Crystals Doped with Mn-Doped ZnFe2O4 Ferrite Nanoparticles

open access: yesCrystals
The electro-optical behavior of and electric-field-induced structural changes in nematic liquid crystals (6CHBT and 5CB) doped with a low concentration (1 × 10−4) of Mn-doped zinc ferrite nanoparticles were investigated.

Simulation‐Based Analysis of Insert Pull‐Out in Nickel‐Polyurethane Hybrid Foams Using CT‐Derived Geometries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
CT‐based finite element simulations combined with in situ X‐ray computed tomography are used to analyze insert pull‐out in nickel‐coated polymer foams. Despite variations in material parameters, deformation consistently concentrates within a narrow annular region around the insert.

Experimental and Theoretical Investigation of External Electric-Field-Induced Crystallization of TKX-50 from Solution by Finite-Temperature String with Order Parameters as Collective Variables for Ionic Crystals

open access: yesMolecules
External electric fields are an effective tool to induce phase transformations. The crystallization of ionic crystals from solution is a common phase transformation. However, understanding of mechanisms is poor at the molecular level.
