Physiological Entomology, EarlyView.Sleep is important for cellular/humoral and behavioural immunity. In Drosophila mite systems, sleep deprivation reduced behavioural resistance against ectoparasitic infection. Sleep‐deprived flies exhibited lower endurance (negative geotaxis assay) and endurance is a reliable indicator of behavioural resistance against ectoparasites.
