The Role of Prostaglandins in Ripening the Cervix and Inducing Labor

When applied locally to the cervix, the use of prostaglandins may be the most successful method for ripening the cervix and inducing labor, especially in patients with unfavorable cervical features who would otherwise undergo unnecessary cesarean sections.
