Two‐Photon Grayscale Lithography (2GL) of High Mechanical and Optical Quality 3D Silica Glass Microstructures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Two‐photon grayscale lithography (2GL) enables high‐speed and precise 3D printing of thermolyzed silica glass microstructures with optical‐grade surface quality, high quality factors, and mechanical strength utilizing a custom‐made pre‐glass resist based on polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (POSS) modified with a high‐sensitivity Norrish type II ...

Strong Lead‐Free Bioinspired Piezoceramics for Durable Energy Transducers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We fabricated brick‐and‐mortar lead‐free piezoceramics with Bi0.5Na0.5TiO3 monocrystal platelets as bricks and amorphous silica as mortar. The alignment of the bricks and the presence of the amorphous silica led to anisotropic residual stresses. These residual stresses increase the samples toughness, strength and durability while the brick alignment ...

Simulation of induction heating phenomena. Application to induction hardening problems.

open access: yes, 1995
Any electric conducting material exposed to a variable magnetic field develops eddy currents, therefore warms up by Joule effect. The distribution of the eddy currents depends on the shape of this material, of that of the inductor, the frequency and the amplitude of the field, as well as physical properties of materials.

A Thermodynamic Model of Antiferroelectics and Its Application to Electric Field Induced Antiferroelectric‐Ferroelectric Transition in PbZrO3

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A thermodynamic model that incorporates ferroelectric, antiferroelectric, and antiferrodistortive orders of PbZrO3${\rm PbZrO}_3$ is established and parameterized based on experimental measurements and first‐principles calculations. We derive a Clapeyron‐like equation for describing the temperature‐dependence of critical electric fields for the ...

Coaxial-Type Four Terminal Computable Inductance Resistor

open access: yes
This Coaxial-Type Four Terminal Computable Inductance Resistor, used by Francis B. Silsbee at the National Bureau of Standards in 1915, was the most significant of the group of computable resistors used by Silsbee to establish the basis for certifying ...

Simultaneous Enhancement of Performance and Stability in Dual‐Gate a‐IGZO Thin‐Film Transistors via Single‐Step Laser Annealing for Capacitor‐Less DRAM

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A single‐step laser annealing strategy is presented for dual‐gate a‐IGZO TFTs. The steep thermal gradient induces graded oxygen doping in the channel and simultaneous WOx removal at the contacts, enabling concurrent interface and contact engineering.

Functionalizing Micro‐to‐Mesoscopic Electrode Architectures for Regulating Electron Transfer Behaviors in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A systematic review is conducted to assess the influence of electrode architecture across micro‐ to mesoscopic length scales on electron‐transfer pathways in electrocatalysis. We discuss the structure‐activity relationships in electrocatalytic applications, including resource recovery and environmental remediation, and provide cost‐effective, efficient
