Development of X80 Grade Induction Bend Pipe
21st International Conference on Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering, Volume 3, 2002API X80 grade induction bend pipe was developed using longitudinally submerged arc welded pipe as a mother pipe and applying subsequent quenching after induction heating and tempering in the full length portion. As a preliminary study for optimizing manufacturing process, the effect of heating process in induction bending had been investigated, and ...

Optimization of Pipe Induction Bending Process Parameters
ASME 2017 India Oil and Gas Pipeline Conference, 2017Hot pushed induction heating is a bending process used to bend pipes having a small bending radius with a large diameter. This is a complex process since it involves mechanical process of bending and thermal process of localized induction heating. This paper deals with the optimization of induction bending process parameters such as bending speed ...

Theory of pipe-bending to a small bend radius using induction heating
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 1990Abstract A theory for the bending of inductively heated pipes to a small bend radius is presented. Stress-and strain-states under various loading conditions and for different bend radii are calculated and simulated numerically by the 3-D thermal elasto-plastic and the rigid-viscoplastic finite-element methods.

Cracking Analysis of Induction Heat Bend Pipe of X70 Steel
Advanced Materials Research, 2012Experimental methods, such as OM, SEM and X-EDS, were used to study the transverse cracks appeared on the external arc of tensile region during pipe bending. The pipe line steel consists of acicular ferrite (AF) and granular bainite (GB) with good mechanical properties.

Establishing Induction Bending Technique for Ni-Based Alloy HR6W Large Piping
Advances in Materials Technology for Power Plants, 2019Abstract In order to establish a induction bending technique for Ni-based alloy HR6W large pipe, induction bending test was conducted on HR6W, which is a piping candidate material of 700°C class Advanced Ultra-Super Critical. In this study, a tensile bending test in which tensile strain was applied and a compression bending test in which

The constitutive equation of P11 alloy was built to describe the hardening curve obtained from the compression tests. Then, the local-induction-heating bending process of bend pipe with straight section was simulated by using the finite element method. The forming experiments were also performed based on the simulation results.

Induction Hot Bending and Heat Treatment of 20” API 5L X80 Pipe
Volume 3: Materials and Joining; Pipeline Automation and Measurement; Risk and Reliability, Parts A and B, 2006The present work discusses the effect of the induction hot bending process on the microstructure and the mechanical properties of an API 5L X80, 20” pipe produced by the UOE process. The key characteristic of the pipe was the manufacturing process of the steel plate, involving thermomechanical controlled rolling without accelerated cooling.

Finite element residual stress analysis of induction heating bended ferritic steel piping
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2014Recently, there is a trend to apply the piping bended by induction heating process to nuclear power plants. Residual stress can be generated due to thermo-mechanical mechanism during the induction heating bending process. It is well-known that the residual stress has important effect on crack initiation and growth.
