Sample selection and inductive generalization [PDF]

open access: yesMemory & Cognition, 2009
In two experiments with adults (N = 126), we examined the influence of sampling procedure on inductive generalization. In predicate sampling, participants learned the category identity of individuals known to possess some property. In subject sampling, individuals selected for category identity were discovered to possess a novel property.

Personalizing the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship: Adapting Training for the Next Generation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The pediatric hematology‐oncology fellowship training curriculum has not substantially changed since its inception. The first year of training is clinically focused, and the second and third years are devoted to scholarship. However, this current structure leaves many fellows less competitive in the current job market, resulting in ...

Channel-wall limitations in the magnetohydrodynamic induction generator [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Discussion of magnetohydrodynamic induction generator examines the machine in detail and materials problems influencing its design. The higher upper-temperature limit of the MHD system promises to be more efficient than present turbine systems for ...

The MedSupport Multilevel Intervention to Enhance Support for Pediatric Medication Adherence: Development and Feasibility Testing

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction We developed MedSupport, a multilevel medication adherence intervention designed to address root barriers to medication adherence. This study sought to explore the feasibility and acceptability of the MedSupport intervention strategies to support a future full‐scale randomized controlled trial.

FAULT RIDE-THROUGH CAPABILITY AND DAMPING IMPROVEMENT IN DFIG [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Doubly-fed induction generator wind turbine is susceptible to faults and requires crowbar protection. When the crowbar is triggered, the rotor is short circuited over the crowbar impedance.

Generator Systems for Marine Current Turbine Applications: A Comparative Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Emerging technologies for marine current turbines are mainly related to works that have been carried out on wind turbines and ship propellers. It is then obvious that many electric generator topologies could be used for marine current turbines. As in the

Generating good generators for inductive relations [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the ACM on Programming Languages, 2017
Property-based random testing (PBRT) is widely used in the functional programming and verification communities. For testing simple properties, PBRT tools such as QuickCheck can automatically generate random inputs of a given type. But for more complex properties, effective testing often demands generators for random inputs that belong to a given type ...

Changes in Body Composition in Children and Young People Undergoing Treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ongoing evidence indicates increased risk of sarcopenic obesity among children and young people (CYP) with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), often beginning early in treatment, persisting into survivorship. This review evaluates current literature on body composition in CYP with ALL during and after treatment.
