Induction Heating and Heat Treatment

2014
Volume 4C is a comprehensive guide to electromagnetic induction and how to employ it in heat treating, metalworking, and materials manufacturing. Using diagrams, photos, and data plots, the volume reveals the science behind induction heating processes such as induction hardening, tempering, stress relieving, melting, brazing, soldering, and the ...

Heat treatment of steel with induction heating

Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 1967
Induction hardening makes it possible to obtain a favorable combination of properties, high static strength, fatigue strength, and contact strength with minimal alloying of the steel.

Kinetics of induction heating and methods of control of induction heating for surface quenching

Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 1963
1. Under the present conditions of induction heating for surface quenching, controlled by the parameters of the generator, the temperature-time curves in the temperature range of phase transformation may be convex, concave, or both. A constant heating rate during phase transformation is seldom found in practice. 2.

Principles of Induction Heating

2014
AbstractInduction heating is a combination of several interrelated physical phenomena, including heat transfer, electromagnetics, and metallurgy. This article presents a brief review of different heat transfer modes, namely, heat conduction, thermal radiation, and convection.

Elements of Induction Heating

1988
Elements of Induction Heating: Design, Control, and Applications discusses the principles of electromagnetic induction and the setup and use of induction heating processes and equipment. The first few chapters cover the theory of induction heating and the factors that must be considered when selecting and configuring components for a given application.

Induction Heating Sintering

2018
In this chapter, the principle of induction heating sintering and the features of the microstructure development of induction sintered materials are presented. Direct induction heating can only be realized in conductive materials and is caused by eddy currents created by an alternating magnetic field.

Surface heating by induction

1990
In the last chapter, induction was used for heating large masses of metal, where the aim was a uniform temperature throughout. There, the possible high in tensity of induction heating was limited by the rate at which the heat could be conducted away from the surface. Surface hardening makes use of this 'disadvantage'.
