Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Permanent magnet synchronous machine stator windings fault detection by Hilbert–Huang transform
The Hilbert–Huang transform (HHT) is a time-frequency signal analysis method based on empirical mode decomposition and the Hilbert transform. It is well suited for reliable fault detection since it is unaffected by transient conditions which might cause ...

Stator faults are the most critical faults in induction motors as they develop quickly hence requiring fast online diagnostic methods. A number of online condition monitoring techniques are proposed in the literature to respond to such faults, including ...

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Nonadaptive estimation of the rotor speed in an adaptive full order observer of induction machine [PDF]
The article proposes a new method of reproducing the angular speed of the rotor of a cage induction machine designed for speed observers based on the adaptive method. In the proposed solution, the value of the angular speed of the rotor is not determined

Impact of the Fan Design and Rotational Direction on the Thermal Characteristics of Induction Motors [PDF]
Low manufacturing cost and high reliability make the induction machine suitable for different constant and variable speed applications. For machines operating in hazardous environments, the fully enclosed type is used, with limited access to the stator ...

Influence of pole-pair combinations on the characteristics of the brushless doubly fed induction generator [PDF]
The brushless doubly fed induction generator (BDFIG) is an alternative to the doubly fed induction generator (DFIG), widely used in wind turbines which avoids the need for brush gear and slip rings.

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...
