Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Can Rationalist Abductivism Solve the Problem of Induction? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
According to Laurence BonJour, the problem of induction can be solved by recognizing the a priori necessity that inductive conclusions constitute the best explanations of inductive premises.

Incorporation of Selenium into Sol–Gel‐Derived Bioactive Glass: Influence on Glass Structure, Bioactivity, and its Selective Cytotoxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Selenium was incorporated into a sol–gel‐derived bioactive glass to enable sustained therapeutic ion release. The selenium‐containing glass preserved bioactivity while selectively inducing cytotoxicity in osteosarcoma cells and maintaining osteoblastic viability.

Diophantine Induction

open access: yesAnnals of Pure and Applied Logic, 1990
Let \(I\exists^-_ 1\) be the subsystem of Peano arithmetic obtained by restricting the induction scheme to diophantine formulas without parameters. The main result of the paper says that \(I\exists^-_ 1\vdash IE^-_ 1+E\vdash\) Matijasevič's theorem, where \(IE^-_ 1\) is the scheme of parameter-free bounded existential induction and E is an \(\forall ...

Inductive Logic Programming: Theory and Methods

open access: yesThe Journal of Logic Programming, 1994
Inductive Logic Programming (ILP) is a new discipline which investigates the inductive construction of first-order clausal theories from examples and background knowledge. We survey the most important theories and methods of this new field.

High‐Temperature Nanoindentation of Metals: Assessing Thermal Drift, Frame Compliance, and Chemical Composition Effects on the Reported Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

CONSIDERATIONS ON CONTACTLESS ELECTROMAGNETIC MEASUREMENT OF HUMIDITY IN PEDOLOGY [PDF]

open access: yesFiabilitate şi Durabilitate, 2017
To put into practice the conventional determination of resistivity by the galvanic method, requires a relatively large amount of labor and is, therefore, expensive.

Positive Inductive-Recursive Definitions [PDF]

open access: yesLogical Methods in Computer Science, 2015
A new theory of data types which allows for the definition of types as initial algebras of certain functors Fam(C) -> Fam(C) is presented. This theory, which we call positive inductive-recursive definitions, is a generalisation of Dybjer and Setzer's ...

Predicting miRNA‐disease association based on inductive matrix completion

open access: yesBioinform., 2018
Motivation: It has been shown that microRNAs (miRNAs) play key roles in variety of biological processes associated with human diseases. In Consideration of the cost and complexity of biological experiments, computational methods for predicting potential ...
