A Return to Normality: A Descriptive Qualitative Interview Study Exploring the Patient Experience of Gout Flare Resolution

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Although the definition of a gout flare is well established, the state of gout flare resolution has not yet been defined. This study aimed to explore patients’ experiences and perceptions of gout flare resolution. Methods Semistructured interviews were conducted with 24 people with gout, guided by open‐ended questions exploring their ...

A Multicycle Q-Modulation for Dynamic Optimization of Inductive Links [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2016
This paper presents a new method, called multi-cycle Q-modulation, which can be used in wireless power transmission (WPT) to modulate the quality factor (Q) of the receiver (Rx) coil and dynamically optimize the load impedance to maximize the power transfer efficiency (PTE) in two-coil links.

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

Self and Mutual Inductance Behavioral Modeling of Square-Shaped IPT Coils With Air Gap and Ferrite Core Plates

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
The design and optimization of coils for Inductive Power Transfer (IPT) systems is an iterative process conducted in Finite Element (FE) tools that takes a lot of time and computational resources.

Link Stealing Attacks Against Inductive Graph Neural Networks [PDF]

open access: yes
A graph neural network (GNN) is a type of neural network that is specifically designed to process graph-structured data. Typically, GNNs can be implemented in two settings, including the transductive setting and the inductive setting. In the transductive

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Comparison and System Development of a Two-Coil and Three-Coil Inductive Link for Transcutaneous Power Transfer

open access: yesIEEE Access
Implantable electronic devices are powerful tools to alleviate a range of medical conditions. To minimize the risk of infections and increase patient comfort, no wires should penetrate the skin.

Incorporation of Selenium into Sol–Gel‐Derived Bioactive Glass: Influence on Glass Structure, Bioactivity, and its Selective Cytotoxicity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Selenium was incorporated into a sol–gel‐derived bioactive glass to enable sustained therapeutic ion release. The selenium‐containing glass preserved bioactivity while selectively inducing cytotoxicity in osteosarcoma cells and maintaining osteoblastic viability.
