The results of experimental research of behaviour of microparticles in plasma of inductive radio-frequency discharge are presented. The experiments were performed in inert gases with monodisperse and polydisperse particles. The discharge was initiated by radio-frequency power supply at 27 and 100 MHz.

On nonlinear effects in inductively coupled plasmas

Nonlinear current and potential oscillations in low pressure inductively coupled plasmas are analyzed within the framework of electron magnetohydrodynamics. It is shown that both current and potential oscillations can be attributed, respectively, to the solenoidal and potential components of nonlinear Lorentz and inertial forces.

Neon Inductively Coupled Plasma for Laser Ablation-Inductively Coupled Plasma-Mass Spectrometry

The use of a neon inductively coupled plasma (Ne ICP) in place of an argon inductively coupled plasma (Ar ICP) for laser ablation microprobe-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LAM-ICP-MS) is demonstrated. Gas blank mass spectra were obtained comparing the signals obtained with an Ar ICP with the Ne ICP.
