New Materials for Inductors

EMC Europe 2009 Workshop, 2009
Traditional materials for coils and common mode chokes are iron and ferrites. Iron has a high saturation level but low permeability, and ferrite has low saturation and high permeability. Nanocrystalline materials are a rather new material with a high saturation and a high permeability.

Cascaded switched-inductor and taped-inductor Z-source inverters

2011 Twenty-Sixth Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition (APEC), 2011
Z-source inverter is a recently proposed single-stage inverter with added voltage-boost capability for complementing the usual voltage-buck operation of a traditional voltage-source inverter. In spite of that added feature, the overall voltage gain might still be relatively low for certain applications like the grid connection of low-voltage renewable ...

Gyrators, integrated inductors and simulated inductors

2020
This chapter first reviews the basic oneand two-port circuit elements and then highlights the basic characterization and impedance inverting property of the gyrator. To place the scope and the contents of this monograph in the right perspective, this chapter then discusses several other issues such as commercially available passive inductors and ...

Self-capacitance of inductors

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 1997
A new method for predicting the stray capacitance of inductors is presented. The method is based on an analytical approach and the physical structure of inductors. The inductor winding is partitioned into basic cells-many of which are identical. An expression for the equivalent capacitance of the basic cell is derived.
