Inductors and Transformers

2020
These take us into the realms of magnetics. Starting with the magnetic effect of an electric current, we derive an equation for the inductance of a solenoid and then to a consideration of B-H loops, magnetic domains, the magnetic circuit and the use of an air gap.

Micro-Inductors and Transformers

IEEE Translation Journal on Magnetics in Japan, 1994
Recently, many planar microdevices have been proposed, including planar bulk inductors, thin-film inductors, and thin-film transformers. In this paper, the high-frequency operation of thin-film microinductors and microtransformers prepared by photolithography techniques is investigated. Features such as the coil structure and resistivity, the structure

Modeling of inductors and transformers

2001 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Sympsoium Digest (Cat. No.01CH37157), 2002
This paper deals with modeling of spiral inductors and transformers. A lumped element approach is used to represent the spirals on a turn-by-turn basis. A previously reported approach for modeling of substrate eddy currents is employed and a new approach for modeling of current crowding effects is introduced.

Transformers, Inductors and Filters

Proceedings of the IRE, 1962
Transformers, inductors and filters have continually played important roles throughout the field of electronics. Relatively crude electromagnetic devices were employed in early telephone and radio communication systems and today their vastly improved descendants are still found in most electronic systems. The sizes of electronic power transformers have

Multi-resonant microfabricated inductors and transformers

2004 IEEE 35th Annual Power Electronics Specialists Conference (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37551), 2004
This paper introduces (1) a family of multi-resonant passive components with harmonically related impedance nulls and maxima, (2) board- and wafer-scale construction techniques for such structures, and (3) circuit topologies that exploit the harmonically related impedance extreme they provide.
