American Journal of Industrial Medicine, 1980
AbstractThis presentation is the result of the survey of eight industries with asbestosis risk in the Barcelona area (two of fibro‐cement, three of auto brakes, two of textiles, and one of insulation materials). Of 1,472 workers, 271 or 18.5% have asbestosis.

Forecasting industrial production in the Euro area [PDF]

open access: possibleEmpirical Economics, 2000
The creation of the Euro area has increased the importance of obtaining timely information about short-term changes in the area's real activity. In this paper we propose a number of alternative short term forecasting models, ranging from simple ARIMA models to more complex cointegrated VAR and conditional models, to forecast the index of industrial ...

A derelict industrial area

1977
Regions of extensive industrial dereliction are common in those developed countries where rapid and uncontrolled growth took place in the 19th century and where industrial activities were subsequently brought to a halt by depletion of raw materials or by market changes. It is now widely recognised that ecological information is of considerable value in

Predicting photochemical pollution in an industrial area

Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, 2007
In order to confront pollution events concerning the city of Elefsis, in the environmentally aggravated area of Thriassion Plain, an effort is undertaken to create a model forecasting maximal daily concentrations of NO(x) (NO(2)+NO), NO(2) and O(3). The data analyzed were obtained from the Bureau of Pollution Control and Environments Quality based in ...

On air quality monitoring in industrial areas

IMTC/98 Conference Proceedings. IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference. Where Instrumentation is Going (Cat. No.98CH36222), 2002
Mathematical models for prediction of air pollutant levels, produced by industrial plants, have been taken into account. A black box approach, for modeling air pollution is proposed. The main target of the models is the prediction, on the basis of both the meteorological forecasting and the production policy, of pollutant levels, in particular sulfur ...

Environmental assessment in an industrial area of Portugal

Biological Trace Element Research, 1999
The region of Lisbon and south of Lisbon (Sado estuary) is densely industrialized, and, therefore, air pollution should be studied in a more detailed scale there. The topography of the Sado estuary region and the predominant wind direction from the northwest contribute to the influence in this region of the industries located in the north.
