Chemoselectivity and Enantioselectivity in the Conjugate Reduction of Cinnamate Esters and a Tandem Conjugate Reduction‐Ester Hydrogenation Using Manganese Catalysts

An improved synthesis of a manganese catalyst used for hydrogenation of ketones, esters and imines is reported. The catalyst has now been found to effect tandem conjugate reduction‐ester hydrogenations with very low amounts of allylic alcohol by‐products.

GC × GC‐TOF MS and Sensory Profiling of Aroma Compounds in Magnolia Species: Effects of Processing Methods on Volatile Retention in M. wufengensis

The first comparative analysis of Magnolia scents reveals that M. wufengensis is characterised by a high aldehyde content, exhibiting a fresh, sweet, and fruity fragrance profile. Furthermore, freeze‐drying preserves 6.7 times more 2‐nonenal compared to shade‐drying, highlighting its superior efficacy in retaining key volatile compounds.

Simultaneous Quantification of Phenolic Compounds and Capsaicinoids in Chili Peppers Using Ultra‐High Performance Liquid Chromatography‐Tandem Mass Spectrometry

A UHPLC‐MS/MS method was developed to simultaneously quantify four capsaicinoids and 19 phenolic compounds, the key bioactive constituents in chili peppers. It exhibits high sensitivity, low matrix effects, excellent accuracy, and precision, enabling reliable detection in chili samples.
