THE ENGINE THAT DRIVES THE INDUSTRY'S GROWTH [PDF]

open access: yesInformation Display, 2020
AbstractAmid the turbulence brought on by the COVID‐19 pandemic, SID decided to hold this year's Display Week online. By making that shift, we'll be able to continue our mission while ensuring attendees’ safety. We've even discovered some digital tools that will help us improve the symposium experience, well after the pandemic has subsided.

Impeded Industrial Restructuring: The Growth Penalty [PDF]

open access: yesKyklos, 2002
This paper documents that a process of industrial restructuring has been transforming the developed economies, where large corporations are accounting for less economic activity and small firms are accounting for a greater share of economic activity. Not all countries, however, are experiencing the same shift in their industrial structures.

Protocol for quantifying miRNA trafficking across the endosomal membrane

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An in vitro protocol measures miRNA uptake into endosomes isolated from mammalian cell extracts, which are free of subcellular contaminants. Performed at 37 °C in the presence of ATP, it ensures the import of single‐stranded miRNA into the endosomal lumen.

Uma interpretação sobre a evolução da produtividade industrial no Brasil nos anos noventa e as "leis" de Kaldor
An interpretation of industrial productivity evolution in Brazil in the nineties and the Kaldor 'laws'
[PDF]

open access: yesNova Economia, 2002
The aim of this paper is to recover Kaldor´s propositions to shed some light on the recent debate about industrial productivity in Brazil. Nowadays, it is a well-disseminated idea that the opening of the economy has contributed to the increased ...

Structural and biochemical insights into the thermostable esterase Ta0887 from Thermoplasma acidophilum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In this study, a novel esterase from the thermoacidophilic archaeon Thermoplasma acidophilum was biochemically and structurally characterized. Our results demonstrate that Ta0887 is a highly thermostable esterase that preferentially hydrolyzes p‐nitrophenyl hexanoate and possesses an α‐helical cap domain that likely contributes to its substrate ...

A Novel KCNA1 Variant in a Patient With Tremor and Autism Spectrum Disorder Causes Mixed LOF/GOF Defects of Kv1.1 Channels

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Variants in KCNA1, encoding the Kv1.1 potassium channel, cause neurological disorders including episodic ataxia and developmental and epileptic encephalopathy. We identified a novel KCNA1 variant (A401T) in a 16‐year‐old patient with autism spectrum disorder, borderline intellectual disability, and tremor, without episodic ataxia or epilepsy ...

Thermodynamic Pathways of Nonequilibrium Solidification in Wire‐Arc Additive Manufacturing Fe‐Based Multicomponent Alloy Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Thermomechanical Fatigue and Creep–Fatigue Interaction of Inconel 718 Additively Manufactured by Laser Beam Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,
