In this study, we examined whether realistic ozone concentrations can interfere with sexual communication in the insect pest Plutella xylostella, the diamondback moth. Ozone exposure caused a degradation of pheromone components, leading to significant changes in blend composition and component ratios.

ABSTRACT While oasis settlements emerged during the Bronze Age in Eastern and Northern Arabia, the settlement process in Central Arabia was different. Excavations at al‐Yamāma—main ancient settlement of the al‐Kharj oasis (Riyadh Province, KSA)—suggest that the latter did not emerge before the second half of the first millennium BCE.

This study highlights the importance of the unprotected Yabassi Key Biodiversity Area, Cameroon, for primate conservation in the Gulf of Guinea biodiversity hotspot. We modelled primate distribution patterns and found that historically overlooked parts of the landscape have high species richness and are critical for some threatened species.
