Screen‐Printed Flexible Piezoelectric Force Sensor Array with Electromagnetic Interference Shielding

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article introduces a flexible screen‐printed piezoelectric sensor array designed for low‐frequency healthcare applications such as tactile sensing and cardiovascular monitoring. The device integrates interface electronics enabling the simultaneous acquisition of up to 128 signals, along with flexible EMI shielding that significantly reduces noise ...

Large Farms and Small Businesses: The difficult path toward development in rural China [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The "Chinese Economic Miracle" of sustained growth since the 1970s has been thoroughly explored by many economists. So, too, has the obvious dichotomy between China's urban industrial sector and its rural agrarian economy.

More is less: Connectivity in fractal regions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Ad-hoc networks are often deployed in regions with complicated boundaries. We show that if the boundary is modeled as a fractal, a network requiring line of sight connections has the counterintuitive property that increasing the number of nodes decreases

Bimetallic (NiFe) and Trimetallic (NiFeCr) Nanoalloys from Metal Oxides Using a Microwave Hydrogen Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Bimetallic (NiFe) and trimetallic (NiFeCr) nanoalloys (NAs) are synthesized using corresponding oxide mixtures using microwave hydrogen plasma within a few milliseconds. The process simultaneously 1) reduces metal oxides to metals; 2) downsizes the particles from micrometers to nanometers; and 3) blends the metals to form NAs.

Macroeconomic risk factors in Australian commercial real estate, listed property trust and property sector stock returns: A comparative analysis using GARCH-M [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper employs a Generalised Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedasticity in Mean (GARCH-M) model to consider the effect of macroeconomic factors on Australian property returns over the period 1985 to 2002.

The application of GIS to analyse occupier chains and property market filtering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
With funding from the RICS Education Trust, Paul Greenhalgh and Helen King of Northumbria University, UK sought to investigate whether using Geographic Information System (GIS) can enhance the representation and analysis of property occupier chaining ...

Sustainable Synthesis of Bio‐Based Magnetic and Conductive Wood for Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A wood‐based magnetic and conductive material called Magwood (MW), capable of blocking almost 99.99% of electromagnetic waves (in the X‐band frequency range), is synthesized using a simple, solvent‐free process. MW is lightweight, resists water, and is flame‐retardant, making it a promising alternative for shielding electronics. The rapid proliferation

Linking Unit Tests and Properties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
QuickCheck allows us to verify software against particular proper- ties. A property can be regarded as an abstraction over many unit tests. QuickCheck uses generated random input data to test such properties.
