Symbols for industrial safety

open access: yes, 1982
Written signs are commonly used in industrial sites to provide hazard warnings and safety information. The use of safety symbols may increase the effectiveness of safety communication, because such signs are language-free, and because they can be recognized more rapidly and accurately than written text even under some conditions of interference and ...

Mechanisms of Anode Interfacial Phenomena and Multi‐perspective Optimization in Aqueous Alkaline Zinc‐Air Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Zinc‐air batteries demonstrate great potential for sustainable energy storage but face major anode‐related challenges. This review provides a mechanism‐driven overview of zinc anode interfacial issues, e.g. dendrite formation, passivation, self‐corrosion, and hydrogen evolution; and explores advances in electrode, surface, and electrolyte engineering ...

Auditing Industrial Safety Management: A Case Study [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Management, Knowledge and Learning, 2019
As industries are becoming increasingly self-regulatory, external auditing has become increasingly important to ensure that industrial practices are in line with regulations and the public good. This study asks if there is a fit between the industrial

Wafer‐Scale Integration of α‐quartz Thin Films toward Super High Frequency Piezoelectric bioNEMS for Chikungunya Virus Detection

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Epitaxial piezoelectric α‐quartz/Si BioNEMS sensors, made using soft chemistry, effectively detect the Chikungunya virus. They have a mass sensitivity of 205 pg Hz−1 in liquid and can detect the virus at a limit of 9 ng mL−1. This development enables high‐frequency mass devices for point‐of‐care testing in healthcare and other electronic applications ...

Development of Substrate‐Independent Antifouling and Bactericidal Surfaces Using Visible Light Cross‐Linked Hydrogel Coatings for Biomedical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A new antifouling, antithrombogenic, and bactericidal hydrogel coating method is developed for implantable medical devices. The hydrogel coating can be easily formed by visible‐light crosslinking and is universally applicable to all substrates, ranging from polymers to metals.
