Effects of electron-phonon interactions on the electron tunneling spectrum of PbS quantum dots [PDF]
We present a tunnel spectroscopy study of single PbS Quantum Dots (QDs) as function of temperature and gate voltage. Three distinct signatures of strong electron-phonon coupling are observed in the Electron Tunneling Spectrum (ETS) of these QDs.

Efficient Spin Transitions in Inelastic Electron Tunneling Spectroscopy [PDF]
The excitation of the spin degrees of freedom of an adsorbed atom by tunneling electrons is computed using strong coupling theory. Recent measurements [Heinrich, Science 306, 466 (2004)] reveal that electron currents in a magnetic system efficiently excite its magnetic moments. Our theory shows that the incoming electron spin strongly couples with that

Mixed-Valency Signature in Vibrational Inelastic Electron Tunneling Spectroscopy [PDF]
Density functional theory simulations of the vibrational inelastic electron tunneling spectroscopy (IETS) of O2 on Ag(110) permits us to solve its unexplained IETS data [Hahn, Phys. Rev. Lett. 85, 1914 (2000)]. When semilocal density functional theory is corrected by including static intra-atomic correlations, the IETS simulations are in excellent ...

Spin-filter tunnel junction with matched Fermi surfaces [PDF]
Efficient injection of spin-polarized current into a semiconductor is a basic prerequisite for building semiconductor-based spintronic devices. Here, we use inelastic electron tunneling spectroscopy to show that the efficiency of spin-filter-type spin ...

Electrically driven photon emission from individual atomic defects in monolayer WS2. [PDF]
Quantum dot-like single-photon sources in transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) exhibit appealing quantum optical properties but lack a well-defined atomic structure and are subject to large spectral variability.

Superconductivity-enhanced bias spectroscopy in carbon nanotube quantum dots [PDF]
We study low-temperature transport through carbon nanotube quantum dots in the Coulomb blockade regime coupled to niobium-based superconducting leads. We observe pronounced conductance peaks at finite source-drain bias, which we ascribe to elastic and ...

Real-Space Imaging of Inelastic Friedel-like Surface Oscillations Emerging from Molecular Adsorbates
We report real space imaging measurements of inelastic Friedel oscillations. The inelastic electron tunneling spectroscopy, using scanning tunneling microscopy, around dimers of dichlorobenze adsorbates on Au(111) surface display clear spatial ...

Pair-tunneling resonance in the single-electron transport regime [PDF]
We predict a new electron pair-tunneling (PT) resonance in non-linear transport through quantum dots with positive charging energies exceeding the broadening due to thermal and quantum fluctuations.
