Inelastic neutron scattering in SeTe glasses
Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1990Abstract Inelastic neutron scattering has been used to study the excitation spectra g(E) of a series of four SexTe1−x glasses, with x = 0.95, 0.90, 0.80, 0.70, at two temperatures, 100K and 200K. The low frequency spectra show a breakaway from an (energy)2 dependence for g(E) to a higher power dependence, which is typical of the density of states for

Inelastic neutron scattering from Sendust
Physical Review B, 1988Inelastic neutron scattering experiments have been performed on a single crystal of Sendust (Fe/sub 2.94/Al/sub 0.38/Si/sub 0.68/) in order to study the spin dynamics below and above the ferromagnetic Curie temperature T/sub C/ = 794 +- 1 K. Below T/sub C/, clear ferromagnetic spin waves are observed up to the energy transfer of about 60 meV.

Experiments with thermal neutrons are most useful in the study of lattice vibrations. The advantage stems from the basic nature of the neutron: The De Broglie wavelength of a thermal neutron is of the same order of magnitude as the interatomic distances in crystals, and the energy of a thermal neutron is of the same order as the energy of a lattice ...

Inelastic Neutron Scattering in Iron
Physical Review, 1954The gamma-ray spectrum from the inelastic scattering of $D\ensuremath{-}D$ neutrons in iron has been obtained using an unshielded single-crystal NaI spectrometer. A ring-type geometry permitted subtraction of the back-ground rate from the total rate: this yields a complex spectrum attributed to the inelastic scattering in iron.

Inelastic neutron-deutron scattering
Nuclear Physics A, 1969Abstract A theory of the charge exchange process d(n,p)2n is presented which is based on an earlier theory of slightly inelastic proton-deutron scattering. Calculations of the 150 MeV measurements of Measday are found to be in good agreement with experiment for protons scattered through 20° or less.

Inelastic Scattering of Neutrons by Tritons
Physical Review, 1964Assuming that the range of nuclear forces is small compared to the size of the triton and the wavelength of the incoming neutron ( zero-range'' approximation), a connection is derived between the cross sections for elastic and inelastic n-t scattering by calculating the ratio of the first Born approximation for inelastic to that for elastic scattering.

An Inelastic Neutron Scattering Experiment
American Journal of Physics, 1962A recording spectrometer model 1820 manufactured by Nuclear Chicago with a NaI crystal scintillator, a neutron source, and an iron scatterer were used to measure the gamma ray at 0.84 MeV from Fe56 by inelastic scattering of fast neutrons.

Inelastic scattering of neutrons by anharmonic crystals
Solid State Communications, 1963Recent experiments have been able to observe the widths of the one-phonon resonances in the inelastic scattering of neutrons by crystals. The purpose of this paper is to provide a theoretical framework within which to determine the phonon frequencies and lifetimes from these experiments. When a crystal has anharmonicities interference effects can occur

Inelastic and quasielastic neutron scattering
Current Opinion in Solid State and Materials Science, 1997Inelastic neutron scattering is a technique for measuring the dynamics of condensed matter on a microscopic scale. Several dynamical regimes can be probed, including atomic momentum distributions, vibrations, and relaxation phenomena. Recent work has been carried out to investigate the dynamics of disordered materials.
