Liquid‐Phase Fabrication of Janus 2D Materials: Defect‐Rich MoS2 Ultrathin Layers Asymmetrically Decorated with Au Nanoparticles

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This work presents a versatile strategy for asymmetrically decorating MoS2 flakes using SiO2 microspheres as masking templates. The Janus MoS2 exhibits a 1.9‐fold enhancement in photoluminescence (PL) due to the incorporation of Au nanoparticles (NPs), primarily dominated by B exciton emission, which is attributed to defect‐rich structures.

Understanding Volatile Electrical Switching in hBN Nanodevices by Fully Optical Operando Investigation

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Operando optical characterization of vertical two‐terminal monolayer hexagonal Boron Nitride devices is used to gain new insight into the key role of defects in the dynamics of switching. Characterization of photoluminescence and dark‐field scattering light signals during electrical switching indicates that the formation of conductive filaments of gold

Crossing and Anticrossing of Exchange‐Coupled Molecular Spin Excitation Energy Levels

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Orientation matters: The excitation energy levels of exchange‐coupled spins of two nickelocene molecules anchored to superconducting electrodes are explored via inelastic electron tunneling spectroscopy. Depending on the tilt angle of the single‐molecule magnetic probe the levels cross or exhibit avoided crossing. Abstract The superconducting Pb tip of

Tuning Self‐Assembly of Hole‐Selective Monolayers for Reproducible Perovskite/Silicon Tandem Solar Cells

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
This study investigates how annealing temperature affects the formation of hole‐selective self‐assembled monolayers. Advanced in situ X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy uncovers that increasing the annealing temperature beyond the conventional 100°C reduces the thickness of 2PACz from a multilayer stack of ∼5 nm to a monolayer at 150°C and improves its ...
