Inelastic scattering from surfaces

Semiclassical theory for inelastic scattering

Inelastic scattering on particles with inclusions
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2005The investigation of particles with inclusions is of high interest in many parts of scientific research. Raman scattering is very good at yielding information on the internal composition of the particle. We use a geometrical-optics-based technique to determine the angle dependence of the inelastic scattering on particles with several spherical ...

Localization in elastic and inelastic scattering
Ultramicroscopy, 2003The degree of information localization in elastic and inelastic scattering is examined in the context of imaging zone axis crystals in the aberration corrected STEM. We show that detector geometry is a critical factor in determining the localization, and compare a number of different geometries.

Bounds for Elastic and Inelastic Scattering
Proceedings of the Physical Society, 1960Two methods are given for obtaining bounds for functions satisfying certain systems of coupled integral equations. Application to the integral equations for potential scattering (elastic or inelastic, three dimensional or in partial wave expansion) results in bounds for the wave functions, and hence for the scattering amplitudes and cross sections. The

Duality in inelastic ep scattering
Il Nuovo Cimento A, 1974It is shown that a phenomenological Veneziano-like amplitude for the virtual Compton scattering can be regarded as an explicit solution of the Bloom-Gilman’s fixed-q2 FESR. A semi-phenomenological analysis of ep inelastic scattering is given using this amplitude.

Inelastic Neutron Scattering, Applications
1999The application of both coherent and incoherent neutron scatting techniques to problems in chemistry, physics, engineering catalysis and polymers is described. The various different types of structural and dynamic molecular information that can be obtained are illustrated.

Feynman diagrams can be used to explain deep inelastic scattering, but it must be remembered that the emission and absorption of a photon are not independent events - the underlying field is important.
