An inequality of Schur and an inequality of Newton [PDF]
2 (1.3) Er ? Er-iEr+1 and (1.4) 1r ? Hr-lHr+i. 1 The inequality (1.3) is known as Newton's inequality and is true when a1, a2, * * *, am are real numbers. The inequality (1.4), given by Professor Schur, is true when a1, a2, * * X am are nonnegative reals. In [1], Whiteley has given the following generalizations of (1.3) and (1.4): Let (1.5) El(K) = Xi1,

A Novel Simulation Approach for Damage Evolution during Tailored Forming
Traditional damage models are struggling to accurately and efficiently simulate large‐scale three‐dimensional models with a great number of degrees of freedoms. A new gradient‐enhanced damage model based on the extended Hamilton principle can significantly reduce the computation time while ensuring mesh‐independence which is suitable to use in tailored

This paper considers the relationship between inequality and crime using data from urban counties. The behavior of property and violent crime are quite different. Inequality has no effect on property crime but a strong and robust impact on violent crime, with an elasticity above 0.5.

An evaluation of common explanations for the impact of income inequality on life satisfaction [PDF]
This study explains how income inequality affects life satisfaction in Europe. Although research about the impact of income inequality on life satisfaction is inconclusive, authors suggest several reasons for its potential impact.

On classical inequalities of trigonometric and hyperbolic functions [PDF]
This article is the collection of the six research papers, recently written by the authors. In these papers authors refine the inequalities of trigonometric and hyperbolic functions such as Adamovic-Mitrinovic inequality, Cusa-Huygens inequality, Lazarevic inequality, Huygens inequality, Jordan's inequality, Carlson's inequality, Wilker's inequality ...

An inequality similar to Opial’s inequality [PDF]
rb 1 b (1) fJ |yy(n) I dx (b ? a)n1 I y(n) 12dx. 2 (He employs (1) to prove uniqueness of the initial value problem for linear differential equations of order n.) Also there are generalizations of Opial's original inequality in other directions. (See, for instance, Calvert [2] and Yang [6].) The purpose of this note is to obtain a sharper version of (1)
