Multimodal Locomotion in Insect‐Inspired Microrobots: A Review of Strategies for Aerial, Surface, Aquatic, and Interfacial Motion

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This review identifies key design considerations for insect‐inspired microrobots capable of multimodal locomotion. To draw inspiration, biological and robotic strategies for moving in air, on water surfaces, and underwater are examined, along with approaches for crossing the air–water interface.

Vinegar fly control treatments: Effectiveness of insecticide formulations and of inert dust diluents assayed in laboratory studies using fruit crop pest

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 1958
Thirty-six insecticides, used both as emulsifiable concentrates and wettable powders—when both were available—and 19 types of inert dust diluents were included in laboratory studies on their immediate and residual effectiveness in the control of vinegar ...

Molecule-specific diffusion and desorption of interstellar ices on carbonaceous dust

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Interstellar ices form on dust grains in the coldest regions of molecular clouds and preserve key volatile reservoirs that could be incorporated into protoplanetary disks during star and planet formation.

Geo-engineering using dust grains in heliotropic elliptical orbits [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper examines the concept of a Saturn-like Earth ring comprised of dust grains to offset global warming. A new family of non-Keplerian periodic orbits, under the effects of solar radiation pressure and the Earth’s oblateness J2 perturbation, is ...

Bioavailable iron in the Southern Ocean: the significance of the iceberg conveyor belt

open access: yesGeochemical Transactions, 2008
Productivity in the Southern Oceans is iron-limited, and the supply of iron dissolved from aeolian dust is believed to be the main source from outside the marine reservoir.
