The ubiquitin system in normal and infected germinal center B cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The ubiquitin system plays a central role in germinal center (GC) B cells, influencing differentiation to long‐lived memory B cells. Oncogenic gammaherpesviruses gain access to memory B cells by establishing latency in GC B cells. Mapping ubiquitin mechanisms in normal and infected GC B cells will define specific molecular circuits in B cells germane ...

Resilience and plant growth forms 40 years after a volcanic disturbance

open access: yesEcosphere
Resilience represents a critical concept in ecology; yet, quantitative assessment of resilience in response to disturbance is rare, even for widely recognized growth forms.

Smaller is better: nanobodies meet NMR

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nanobodies are single‐domain antigen‐binding fragments derived from camelid heavy chain antibodies. Their small size, high stability, and exceptional specificity make nanobodies uniquely useful probes for NMR studies of protein dynamics, transient conformational states, and protein–protein interactions.

Age and sex disparities in blood pressure control and therapeutic inertia: Impact of a quality improvement program

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Preventive Cardiology
Objective: Hypertension quality improvement programs reduce uncontrolled blood pressure (BP) but impact may differ by sex and age. Methods: This study examined uncontrolled BP, defined as a BP ≥ 140/90 mmHg, and therapeutic inertia, defined as absence of

Membrane composition and thermodynamic identity as boundaries of life for synthetic cell research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
What makes a cell a cell? The boundary of a living cell is not just a wall. Read as a Markov blanket, the membrane separates internal from external states, generating identity and non‐equilibrium order. Can this identity be rebuilt from scratch in a synthetic cell?

PREDICTION STAGES OF THE DIFFICULT INERTIA SYSTEM BEHAVIOR WITH THE USE OF THE DEVELOPED SYSTEM MODEL

open access: yesSučasnì Informacìjnì Tehnologìï u Sferì Bezpeki ta Oboroni, 2015
The difficult inertia systems prediction question with the use of the difficult systems models is considered in the article. It is indicated, that the entrance model data consistоf three groups: the arguments group when argument's values are determined ...

Fractal Dimension and Power Spectrum of Electroencephalography Signals of Sleep Inertia State

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Human brain functions and behaviors during the transition state between sleep and wakefulness are not similar to these at alert wakefulness state. The transition state, which is called sleep inertia, has many unpleasant and dangerous effects on many ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

An Overview of Some New Classes of Abelian p-Groups [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Group Theory and Applications
This paper surveys results obtained in the last twelve years that gave origin to several new classes of abelian p-groups. These results have their source in the definition of the intrinsic algebraic entropy of the endomorphisms of p-groups, and are ...

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
