Coordinated inertia response from permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) based wind farms

open access: yes, 2015
A simplified model of a wind turbine connected to the grid through a power electronic interface was developed to carry out inertia response studies. This model was validated using the detailed model simulation and experimental results.

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Learning-by-doing and Endogenous Price-level Inertia [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper presents a DGE model in which aggregate price level inertia is generated endogenously by the optimizing behaviour of price setting firms. All the usual sources of inertia are absent here ie., all firms are simultaneously free to change their ...

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...

Simulation Analysis on Active Frequency Support Features of Grid-Forming Wind Turbine

open access: yesKongzhi Yu Xinxi Jishu
This paper presents an architecture for controlling grid-forming wind turbines, focusing on the frequency support features of grid-forming wind turbines based on doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG), for the purpose of quantitatively analyzing their key

Establishment of a coculture system for Porphyromonas gingivalis and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma using spheroid culture and LATS inhibition

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We established a spheroid coculture system enabling viable Porphyromonas gingivalis–HNSCC interactions under normoxic conditions. Inhibition of LATS1/2 maintains tumor cells in an undifferentiated state, which may promote spheroid growth and create a more permissive environment for bacterial persistence.

Coordinated frequency support strategy for VSC-HVDC integrated offshore wind farm system

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research
The large-scale offshore wind power integrated into the onshore power grid through voltage source converter-based high voltage direct current (VSC-HVDC) system is unable to provide inertia response and frequency support to the onshore power grid.

Absence of Pressure-Driven Supersolid Flow at Low Frequency

open access: yes, 2009
An important unresolved question in supersolid research is the degree to which the non-classical rotational inertia (NCRI) phenomenon observed in the torsional oscillator experiments of Kim and Chan, is evidence for a Bose-condensed supersolid state with

SIRT4 positively regulates autophagy via ULK1, but independently of HDAC6 and OPA1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cells expressing SIRT4 (H161Y), a catalytically inactive mutant of the sirtuin SIRT4, fail to upregulate LC3B‐II and exhibit a reduced autophagic flux under stress conditions. Interestingly, SIRT4(H161Y) promotes phosphorylation of ULK1 at S638 and S758 that are associated with inhibition of autophagy initiation.
