Controlled syntheses of lanthanide coordination polymers based on the dihydroxybenzoquinone (DHBQ) organic linker afforded large single crystals of Ln‐DHBQ CPs (Ln = Yb, Nd). A novel structural variant of Yb‐DHBQ is identified by means of single crystal diffraction analysis.

Inertial torques acting on a spinning paraboloid
Numerous gyroscopic devices consist of rotating components that manifest gyroscopic effects, i.e., the action of unexplainable inertial torques. The rotating objects in engineering can be designed as a disk, cylinder, rotor, circular cone, sphere ...

Single-pulse dynamics and flow rates of inertial micropumps
Bubble-driven inertial pumps are a novel method of moving liquids through microchannels. We combine high-speed imaging, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations and an effective one-dimensional model to study the fundamentals of inertial pumping ...

Substrate Stress Relaxation Regulates Cell‐Mediated Assembly of Extracellular Matrix
Silicone‐based viscoelastic substrates with tunable stress relaxation reveal how matrix mechanics regulates cellular mechanosensing and cell‐mediated matrix remodelling in the stiff regime. High stress relaxation promotes assembly of fibronectin fibril‐like structures, increased nuclear localization of YAP and formation of β1 integrin‐enriched ...

Optomechanical reference accelerometer
We present an optomechanical accelerometer with high dynamic range, high bandwidth and read-out noise levels below 8 ${\mu}$g/$\sqrt{\mathrm{Hz}}$. The straightforward assembly and low cost of our device make it a prime candidate for on-site reference ...

The effects of detraining and retraining periods on fat-mass and fat-free mass in elite male soccer players [PDF]
The aim of the study was to examine the effects of a detraining period (DTP) (i.e., off-season) with an individually prescribed training program, and a retraining period (RTP) (i.e., pre-season) combining soccer and flywheel-based strength training on ...

3DTouch: A wearable 3D input device with an optical sensor and a 9-DOF inertial measurement unit [PDF]
We present 3DTouch, a novel 3D wearable input device worn on the fingertip for 3D manipulation tasks. 3DTouch is designed to fill the missing gap of a 3D input device that is self-contained, mobile, and universally working across various 3D platforms ...
