Residual Stress States in Microstructurally Graded PBF–LB/M Austenitic Steel Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines microstructurally graded 316L rectangular tube profiles fabricated via PBF–LB/M using a dual‐laser system. A 1 kW top‐hat and a 400 W Gaussian laser create distinct grain sizes and crystallographic texture. Mechanical properties are linked to microstructural evolution driven by processing conditions.

Validity of an Inertial Measurement Unit System to Assess Lower-limb Kinematics during a Maximal Linear Deceleration

open access: yesCentral European Journal of Sport Sciences and Medicine, 2021
This study examined the validity of an inertial measurement unit system for measuring lower-limb joint kinematics during linear decelerations. A male team athlete (age 36 years, stature 1.75 m, mass 80.0 kg) performed multiple linear decelerations ...

A Comprehensive Review of Additive Manufacturing for Space Applications: Materials, Advances, Challenges, and Future Directions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing (AM) transforms space hardware by enabling lightweight, high‐performance, and on‐demand production. This review outlines AM processes—powder bed fusion (PBF), directed energy deposition (DED), binder jetting (BJ), sheet lamination (SL), and material extrusion (ME)—applied to propulsion, satellite structures, and thermal devices ...

Gait Phase Estimation by Using LSTM in IMU-Based Gait Analysis—Proof of Concept

open access: yesSensors, 2021
Gait phase detection in IMU-based gait analysis has some limitations due to walking style variations and physical impairments of individuals. Therefore, available algorithms may not work properly when the gait data is noisy, or the person rarely reaches ...

Urban localization with camera and inertial measurement unit [PDF]

open access: yes2013 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium (IV), 2013
Next generation driver assistance systems require precise self localization. Common approaches using global navigation satellite systems (GNSSs) suffer from multipath and shadowing effects often rendering this solution insufficient. In urban environments this problem becomes even more pronounced.

Micromechanical Characterization of 316L‐V4E Steel Transitions Produced by Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion with Dual‐Hopper Alternating Layer Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This work applies High‐Speed Nanoindentation to study multi‐material transitions in powder bed fusion–electron beam melting components. The aim is to assess the mechanical gradients and interfacial behavior between American iron and steel institute 316L stainless steel and V4E tool steel in additively manufactured structures.
