Calibration of an Inertial Measurement Unit

International Applied Mechanics, 2017
A new method for the calibration of inertial measurement units of strapdown inertial technology is proposed. Such a unit consists of accelerometers, gyroscopes, and a signal processing system. The method of test turns and rotations on a rotary table is used to calibrate the inertial measurement unit.

A CMOS-MEMS Inertial Measurement Unit

2010 IEEE Sensors, 2010
This paper introduces the first monolithic integration of a 3-axis accelerometer, a 2-axis magnetometer and a fullcustom front-end electronics. This complete Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) has been designed on a single die of 7.5mm² in a 0.35μm CMOS technology.

An inertial measurement unit tracking system for body movement in comparison with optical tracking

Proceedings of the Institution of mechanical engineers. Part H, journal of engineering in medicine, 2020
The recent advancement of motion tracking technology offers better treatment tools for conditions, such as movement disorders, as the outcome of the rehabilitation could be quantitatively defined.

Inertial measurement units on micromechanical sensors

IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Magazine, 2008
This presents a micromechanical gyroscope (MMG), an inertial measurement unit (IMU)based on MMG and an integrated inertial-satellite attitude and navigation system (IANS) developed in CSRI Elektropribor. The evolution and prospects for the development of MMG main components and MMG-based systems is considered. The test results are given.

Measuring Arm Motions Using the Inertial Measurement Unit

2020 IEEE 2nd Global Conference on Life Sciences and Technologies (LifeTech), 2020
This paper describes how to detect arm motions using Inertial measurement unit (IMU). The authors propose a method to attach the IMU to an upper arm and a lower arm as so to obtain the arm’s attitude information from the sensor’s data and thereby to detect the arm’s motions. Our experiment has shown that the arm’s flexion can be detected.

Optimization-based gravity-assisted calibration and axis alignment of 9-degrees of freedom inertial measurement unit without external equipment

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part G: Journal of Aerospace Engineering, 2020
Applicable in numerous fields, low-cost micro-electromechanical system inertial measurement units often require on-sight calibration by the end user due to the existence of systematic errors.

Calibration of an inertial measurement unit

2013 16th International Conference on Advanced Robotics (ICAR), 2013
This paper presents a fast and low cost way to calibrate different inertial measurement sensors. In particular the calibration of an accelerometer and a gyroscope using nonlinear least squares is presented. A model of the sensors which includes the main errors that MEMS devices present is used. A calibration method is proposed for estimating the static

Low cost inertial measuring unit

IEEE PLANS 92 Position Location and Navigation Symposium Record, 2003
A concept being explored is the use of an inexpensive IMU (inertial measuring unit) with the GPS (Global Positioning System). An inexpensive IMU can meet many of the same functional requirements as the high-accuracy system, with the exception of long-term position. For example, some applications for instrumenting a reference frame are antenna stability,

Morrison's QUBIK Inertial Measurement Unit

Navigation, 1988
A new inertial system, “the QUBIK IMU,” uses a single sensor to provide all six output signals (three linear and three angular). The sensor is a cubic design with parallel orthogonal linear arrays of capacitors and magnetic suspension elements arranged on a selected plane for each axis of motion.

Respiration detection using Inertial Measurement Unit

2019 International Symposium on Electrical and Electronics Engineering (ISEE), 2019
We propose a method to detect respiration using an inertial sensor. The inertial sensor attached to the chest or abdomen takes out the vector of the acceleration, angular velocity, and derives the quaternion from the Digital Measurements Processor function in the inertial sensor module, and detects respiration from time-series changes. We try to detect
