Infection rate of simple suturing
Journal of the American College of Emergency Physicians, 1976Four hundred consecutive patients with superficial lacerations participated in a study of infection rate of lacerations sutured in an emergency department. Of these, 322 (85%) returned for suture removal. An infection rate of 5% was noted. Reported incidence of infection among the 68 (17%) non-returnees was 5.8%.

The Impact of Postdischarge Infection on Surgical Wound Infection Rates
Infection Control, 1987AbstractWe undertook a study of postdischarge infections to assess the reliability of a surgical wound surveillance program in a 930-bed teaching hospital. During a six-month period, a subset of operations performed each day was randomly selected and patients interviewed by telephone one month postsurgery using a standard set of questions.

Risk-specific nosocomial infection rates
The American Journal of Medicine, 1991Because nosocomial infection rates vary by hospital area and service, most infection control programs calculate area-specific rates to augment the reporting of their hospital-wide data. Rate development is often limited by the availability of appropriate specific denominator data to support important comparisons.

The Influence of the Alloy of Megaprostheses on Infection Rate
The Journal of Arthroplasty, 2008We retrospectively reviewed 197 patients who underwent reconstruction with a megaprosthesis of the lower extremity. A cobalt-chrome alloy system was used in 77 patients and a titanium alloy system in 120 patients. The overall infection rate was 20.8% (n = 41).

Reducing haemodialysis access infection rates
Journal of Renal Nursing, 2011Infections are the second most common cause of vascular access loss in the long-term haemodialysis patient, and recent years have seen an increase in healthcare-associated infections (HCAIs) associated with vascular access. Amanda Dorman and Marissa Dainton describe infection control procedures used in their unit to battle infection.
