Ageism in Rheumatology: the Healthcare Professional's Perspective

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Ageism (age‐based stereotypes, prejudice, or discrimination) is prevalent and linked to prolonged disability and reduced lifespan in older adults. Little is known about ageism within rheumatology. This study explores the healthcare professional's (HCP) perception of the care of older adults and how ageist attitudes or perspectives may impact ...

Nonlinear Dynamics of Infectious Diseases Transfer with Possible Applications for Tubercular Infection [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
In this paper, we model a nonlinear dynamics of infectious diseases transfer. Particularly, we study possible applications to tubercular infection in models with different profiles (peak values) of the population density dependence on spatial coordinates. Our approach is based on the well known method of instantons which has been used by the authors to

Stochastic Modeling of an Infectious Disease, Part I: Understand the Negative Binomial Distribution and Predict an Epidemic More Reliably [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Why are the epidemic patterns of COVID-19 so different among different cities or countries which are similar in their populations, medical infrastructures, and people's behavior? Why are forecasts or predictions made by so-called experts often grossly wrong, concerning the numbers of people who get infected or die?

Magnetic Field‐Assisted Conductive Nerve Guidance Conduit Enabling Peripheral Nerve Regeneration with Wireless Electrical Stimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a conductive nerve guidance conduit integrated with wireless electrical stimulation through alternating magnetic fields, which induces currents and creates a supportive microenvironment for nerve regeneration. In vivo studies show that this approach significantly enhanced myelin restoration, gastrocnemius muscle regeneration ...
