Arrhythmogenic mitral valve prolapse—a systematic review of ventricular arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death outcomes before and after mitral valve surgery

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 41, Issue 4, August 2025.
This systematic review aims to determine whether MVS reduces the incidence of VA and SCD in patients with MVP. Available studies show a likely reduction when surgery is performed in line with current guideline‐directed indications; however, a residual risk of VA and SCD remains.

Successful debulking of vegetation extending into the right ventricle using a steerable sheath and leadless retrieval system

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 41, Issue 4, August 2025.
Lead‐associated endocarditis, characterized by large vegetations, poses a significant risk of embolization during transvenous lead extraction, necessitating surgical intervention that may be contraindicated in critically ill patients. We describe a successful catheter‐based debulking of massive vegetation extending to the right ventricular apex using a

A Large Cohort Study to Identify Risk Factors of Acute Kidney Injury in Pediatric Patients Undergoing Intravenous Vancomycin Therapy

open access: yesPharmacotherapy: The Journal of Human Pharmacology and Drug Therapy, Volume 45, Issue 8, Page 504-511, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives The relative contribution of vancomycin exposure versus clinical factors to acute kidney injury (AKI) development in pediatric patients remains unclear. This study examined risk factors for AKI in pediatric patients receiving intravenous vancomycin therapy, with particular focus on elucidating the role of vancomycin ...

Guidelines for Enhanced Recovery After Trauma and Intensive Care (ERATIC): Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) and International Association for Trauma Surgery and Intensive Care (IATSIC) Society Recommendations: Paper 2: Postoperative and Intensive Care Recommendations

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, Volume 49, Issue 8, Page 2029-2054, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) protocols reduce length of stay, complications, and costs for elective surgical procedures. It remains challenging to implement ERAS concepts in the acute trauma patient due to deranged physiological reserve from the penetrating or blunt trauma producing altered physiology.

Clinical Results for Cardiovascular Xenografts Treated With Novel Anticalcification Protocols

open access: yesArtificial Organs, Volume 49, Issue 8, Page 1307-1313, August 2025.
This study demonstrates the safety, efficacy, and clinical performance of the tissue‐engineered Periborn bovine pericardial scaffold treated with our novel anticalcification protocols for surgical repair of a variety of cardiovascular diseases. The overall probability of freedom from Periborn‐related reoperation was 95.4% ± 3.2% at 9 years.
