Peculiarities of time patterns of discharges of single auditory neurons of mouse inferior colliculi
Journal of Evolutionary Biochemistry and Physiology, 2008Neurophysiological mapping of single neuronsof the central nucleus of the mouse inferior colliculus has revealed presence of four main groups ofneurons differing by distribution and ratio of excitatory and inhibitory inputs in frequency receptivefields [1, 2]. Among them there are “primary–like”neurons reproducing frequency tuning of the auditory nerve

Simulation of the motion of a sound source using a series of clicks with variable interaural delays was used to study movement effects as changes in the amplitude of sequential focal evoked potentials (EP) in series of EP arising in response to the signal. These experiments showed that a) in 25% of cases the movement effect depended on the direction of

AbstractGiven the evidence that the inferior colliculus (IC) and superior colliculus (SC) seem to play key roles in connecting auditory pathways and seizure output pathways in the neuronal network for audiogenic seizures (AS) in rats, we examined Fos activation in GABAergic cells and cells immunopositive for glutamate N‐methyl‐D‐aspartate (NMDA ...

In previous experiments we have shown that systemic or intracerebroventricular administration of N omega-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME), an inhibitor of nitric oxide (NO) synthase, is able to significantly reduce sound-evoked electrocortical (ECoG) desynchronization in rats.

To reveal the generators of 40-Hz steady state response, the following investigations in awake cat were performed: (i) analyses of 40-Hz SSR without any lesions, and study of stimulus rate; (ii) effect of chronic lesions in the bilateral auditory cortex; (iii) effect of chronic lesions in the bilateral inferior colliculus.

In spite of the large quantity of psychophysiological investigations of binaural hearing, a systematic study of its concrete mechanisms has only been begun comparatively recently (cf. review [1]). In particular, changes in neuron response under conditions of lateral differentiation brought about by varying the intensity of one of the monaural ...

[Behavior of cats after unilateral section of the brachii of the inferior colliculi].
Zhurnal vysshei nervnoi deiatelnosti imeni I P Pavlova, 1978In experiments on 13 cats a unilateral section of the brachii of inferior colliculi produced a stable interhemispheric asymmetry not only in the auditory system, but in other (vestibular, visual, somatic, olfactory) analysers as well, which led to a disturbance of adequate space perception.

Evoked potentials to acoustic stimuli were recorded in the temporal cortical area, the medial geniculate body and the posterior lateral thalamic nucleus in acute experiments on anaesthetized cats. Section of the brachia of the inferior colliculi in an acute experiment resulted in the disappearance of potentials in the examined structures.
