Response properties of neurons in inferior colliculi of mice made susceptible to audiogenic seizures by acoustic priming

Experimental Neurology, 1979
Abstract Mice not normally susceptible to audiogenic seizures can be rendered so by exposing them to a brief intense sound during a certain developmental period (acoustic priming). To determine the effects of priming on central auditory activity, single-unit extracellular recordings were obtained from the inferior colliculi of primed C57BL/6J mice ...

[Behavior of cats after unilateral section of the brachii of the inferior colliculi].

Zhurnal vysshei nervnoi deiatelnosti imeni I P Pavlova, 1978
In experiments on 13 cats a unilateral section of the brachii of inferior colliculi produced a stable interhemispheric asymmetry not only in the auditory system, but in other (vestibular, visual, somatic, olfactory) analysers as well, which led to a disturbance of adequate space perception.

Peculiarities of time patterns of discharges of single auditory neurons of mouse inferior colliculi

Journal of Evolutionary Biochemistry and Physiology, 2008
Neurophysiological mapping of single neuronsof the central nucleus of the mouse inferior colliculus has revealed presence of four main groups ofneurons differing by distribution and ratio of excitatory and inhibitory inputs in frequency receptivefields [1, 2]. Among them there are “primary–like”neurons reproducing frequency tuning of the auditory nerve

[Electrophysiologic and behavioral changes in cats following section of the brachia of the inferior colliculi].

Evoked potentials to acoustic stimuli were recorded in the temporal cortical area, the medial geniculate body and the posterior lateral thalamic nucleus in acute experiments on anaesthetized cats. Section of the brachia of the inferior colliculi in an acute experiment resulted in the disappearance of potentials in the examined structures.

[Spatial characteristics of the reaction of the inferior colliculi in the cat to movement of the sound source].

Fiziologicheskii zhurnal SSSR imeni I. M. Sechenova, 1984
The EP-series response of the inferior colliculus to clicks simulating sound source motion, reflects characteristics of this "motion" ("the motion effect", ME). ME distribution over the inferior colliculus practically coincided with the spatial distribution in cases when contralateral stimulation was more effective than the ipsilateral one. The spatial

[Role of the inferior colliculi in the formation of conditioned reflexes to amplitude-modulated stimuli in rats].

Zhurnal vysshei nervnoi deiatelnosti imeni I P Pavlova, 1981
After a bilateral ablation of the rat auditory cortex, differentiation of a tonal signal from an amplitude-modulated stimulus with 50 c/s modulation frequency is preserved, while ablation of the posterior colliculi completely abolishes differentiation of these signals, without subsequent restoration in six months after the operation.
