A DICOM Framework for Machine Learning Pipelines against Real-Time Radiology Images [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Digital Imaging (JDI), 2021, 2020
Executing machine learning (ML) pipelines in real-time on radiology images is hard due to the limited computing resources in clinical environments and the lack of efficient data transfer capabilities to run them on research clusters. We propose Niffler, an integrated framework that enables the execution of ML pipelines at research clusters by ...

Aneurysms of the inferior vena cava [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery, 1990
Aneurysms of the inferior vena cava are very rare. We describe a case of a saccular aneurysm of the inferior vena cava that thrombosed after vigorous exercise. This presented as deep venous thrombosis associated with a retroperitoneal mass. Laparotomy with biopsy confirmed the benign nature of this lesion, and symptoms gradually resolved.

Implante de filtro em veia cava inferior dupla: relato de caso e revisão da literatura Filter placement in duplicated inferior vena cava: case report and review of the literature

open access: yesJornal Vascular Brasileiro, 2008

Targeted decrease of portal hepatic pressure gradient improves ascites control after TIPS

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
The river diagram demonstrates that after transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt insertion (TIPS) the majority of patients without ascites and 50% of the patients with ascites detectable at ultrasound, show the best response in the long term follow‐up.

Anatomic Variant of Liver, Gall Bladder and Inferior Vena Cava [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2016
The morphology and relations of liver, gall bladder and inferior vena cava are cardinal. Their anatomical variations may be a reason for the adverse surgical outcome.

Estimation and Tracking of AP-diameter of the Inferior Vena Cava in Ultrasound Images Using a Novel Active Circle Algorithm [PDF]

open access: yesIn Computers in Biology and Medicine, vol. 98, pp. 16-25, July 2018, 2018
Medical research suggests that the anterior-posterior (AP)-diameter of the inferior vena cava (IVC) and its associated temporal variation as imaged by bedside ultrasound is useful in guiding fluid resuscitation of the critically-ill patient. Unfortunately, indistinct edges and gaps in vessel walls are frequently present which impede accurate estimation

A sharp interface Lagrangian-Eulerian method for flexible-body fluid-structure interaction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
This paper introduces a sharp-interface approach to simulating fluid-structure interaction involving flexible bodies described by general nonlinear material models and across a broad range of mass density ratios. This new flexible-body immersed Lagrangian-Eulerian (ILE) approach incorporates the geometrical and domain solution flexibility of the ...

Duplication of the Inferior Vena Cava [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Surgical Case Reports, 2011
We highlight the case of a double Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) encountered in a multi-visceral recovery operation on a deceased donor. In such cases pre-operative abdominal cross sectional imaging is usually not available hence the procurement surgeon needs to rely on vigilance and awareness of other potential anatomical variations that are associated with

Interleukin‐18 signaling promotes activation of hepatic stellate cells in mouse liver fibrosis

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Interleukin‐18 signaling promotes activation of hepatic stellate cells in mouse liver fibrosis. Abstract Background and Aims Nucleotide‐binding oligomerization domain‐like receptor‐family pyrin domain‐containing 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome activation has been shown to result in liver fibrosis.
