The In Vitro Transgenic Rodent Assay in Primary MutaMouse Hepatocytes Compared to the Mammalian Cell Gene Mutation Assay Using the HPRT Gene

open access: yesEnvironmental and Molecular Mutagenesis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gene mutations can be detected in mammalian cells in vitro using indicator genes such as the hypoxanthine‐guanine‐phosphoribosyltransferase (HPRT) gene. These assays have been adopted as OECD test guidelines (TG, e.g., OECD TG no. 476) and are used for regulatory purposes.

Endovascular management of IVC syndrome after IVC filter placement

open access: yesRevista Portuguesa de Cardiologia, 2015
Approximately 60 000–100 000 Americans die from deep venous thrombosis or pulmonary embolism annually, while the overall estimate of individuals affected is 30 000–600 000.

Napabucasin transforms liver microenvironment and boosts immunotherapy efficacy by converting potential metastases into “hot” tumors

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Napabucasin reduces liver metastases by reprogramming the hepatic microenvironment. It induces hepatocyte secretion of CCL21 via c‐Fos activation, recruiting lymphocytes and converting “cold” metastases into immunologically “hot” tumors. This effect is liver‐specific and independent of cancer cells.

Estimation and Tracking of AP-diameter of the Inferior Vena Cava in Ultrasound Images Using a Novel Active Circle Algorithm

open access: yes, 2018
Medical research suggests that the anterior-posterior (AP)-diameter of the inferior vena cava (IVC) and its associated temporal variation as imaged by bedside ultrasound is useful in guiding fluid resuscitation of the critically-ill patient ...

The use of intravascular ultrasound imaging to improve use of inferior vena cava filters in a high-risk bariatric population [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
ObjectivePulmonary embolism is the leading cause of death after gastric bypass procedures for obesity, approximating 0.5% to 4%. All bariatric patients, but especially the super-obese, which have a body mass index (BMI) >50 kg/m2, are at significant risk

Magnetocardiography combined with machine learning for pulmonary hypertension detection and improved short‐term risk assessment

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Magnetocardiography (MCG) enables non‐invasive mapping of cardiac magnetic fields. In this study, an MCG‐based machine learning model detects pulmonary hypertension with robust performance. Furthermore, MCG features may improve the accuracy of short‐term risk assessment.

Large Hydatid Cyst in the Cardiac Interventricular Septum: A Rare Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, EarlyView.
Hydatid disease is a parasitic disease with a high incidence in pastoral areas in Tibet. The heart is an uncommon location of echinococcosis, and involvement of the interventricular septum is even rarer. This disease can remain asymptomatic for a long time, but may result in cardiac tamponade and sudden death.
