Clopidogrel discontinuation after acute coronary syndromes: frequency, predictors and associations with death and myocardial infarction--a hospital registry-primary care linked cohort (MINAP-GPRD). [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
AIMS: Adherence to evidence-based treatments and its consequences after acute myocardial infarction (MI) are poorly defined. We examined the extent to which clopidogrel treatment initiated in hospital is continued in primary care; the factors predictive ...

Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy mimicking inferior wall myocardial infarction

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advances in Medicine, 2021
Electrocardiogram is most often the first-hand diagnostic tool with a cardiologist. Promptly identifying life threatening arrhythmias and myocardial infarction with ECG saves many lives. Quite often the electrocardiogram may have dubious findings and further testing helps arriving at the right diagnosis.

Right ventricular myocardial infarction: echocardiographic evidence among patients with inferior wall myocardial infarction

open access: yes, 2006
Right ventricular myocardial infarction (RVMI) predominantly a complication of inferior wall myocardial infarction is a distinct clinical entity in which major hemodynamic disturbance may occur. Bedside hemodynamic measurement, electrocardiography, gated

Effective components screening and anti-myocardial infarction mechanism study of the Chinese medicine NSLF6 based on "system to system" mode [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Background Shuanglong formula (SLF), a Chinese medicine composed of panax ginseng and salvia miltiorrhiza exhibited significant effect in the treatment of myocardial infarction (MI) in clinical. Because of the complex nature and lack of stringent quality

Outcome of Patients with Right Ventricular Infarction in Inferior Wall Myocardial Infarction

open access: yesInternational Journal of Research and Review, 2023
NTRODUCTION: IWMI is associated with increased risk of death, shock, ventricular tachycardia or fibrillation and atrioventricular block (AVB), and a higher mortality rate for the first month post MI in patients with RVMI. AIMS & OBJECTIVES: To study the complications and in-hospital mortality in IWMI with RVMI. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A total of 100

Impact of Dapagliflozin on MRI‐Derived Epicardial Adipose Tissue: Secondary Imaging Analysis of a Randomized Trial

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) is a metabolically active fat depot associated with cardiovascular risk and represents a modifiable imaging biomarker. Studies have shown that sodium–glucose cotransporter‐2 (SGLT2) inhibitors reduce EAT thickness in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, it is unclear whether this is

Inhibition of myocardial cathepsin-L release during reperfusion following myocardial infarction improves cardiac function and reduces infarct size [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Aims: Identifying novel mediators of lethal myocardial reperfusion injury that can be targeted during primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) is key to limiting the progression of patients with ST-elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI) to ...

Clinical Outcomes After Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in Patients With Cirrhosis: A Multicentre National Study

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Summary of a multicentre TriNetX study evaluating outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with cirrhosis. Cirrhosis was associated with higher 1‐year gastrointestinal bleeding and mortality, especially with decompensated disease.

Estimated pulse wave velocity as a marker of major adverse cardiovascular events in essential thrombocythaemia and polycythaemia vera

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
In patients with essential thrombocythaemia or polycythaemia vera, higher estimated pulse wave velocity (ePWV) was independently associated with major adverse cardiovascular events, while its relationship with overall survival was largely age‐driven.
