Dense Nanofibrillar Collagen–Silica Hybrids with High Strength and ECM‐Mimetic Tissue Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dense nanofibrillar collagen–silica hybrids are engineered by synchronizing collagen fibrillogenesis with silica condensation, producing printable scaffolds that unexpectedly approach native extracellular matrix organization and strength. These cell‐free constructs guide endogenous cell‐infiltration, enable localized matrix remodeling, and integrate ...

Improving the tensile properties of 3D printed PLA by optimizing the processing parameter [PDF]

open access: yesJEMMME (Journal of Energy, Mechanical, Material, and Manufacturing Engineering), 2019
Low-cost desktop 3D printing is now dominated by free and open source self-replicating rapid prototype. However, optimum printing process parameters have not been provided by the manufacturer, since there are several process parameters that need to be ...

Sensorized Engineered Tissues with Built‐in Thermoregulation and Nutrient Supply

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a granular hydrogel‐based tissue engineering platform that includes a closed‐loop temperature control to maintain 37°C and sustainably releases nutrients, thereby enabling cells to retain a high viability even if stored at room temperature for up to 24 h.

Experimental assessment and retrofit of full-scale models of existing RC frames [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
PSD tests on two full-scale models of existing non-seismic resisting RC frame structures are described. The testing program covered several aspects, namely assessment of seismic performance of existing frames without and with infill panels ...

Finite-discrete element modelling of masonry infill walls subjected to out-of-plane loads [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
In this paper, the out-of-plane response of infill walls is investigated by means of non-linear monotonic (push-over) analyses through a combined finite and discrete modelling approach.

Dynamic allometry in coastal overwash morphology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Allometry refers to a physical principle in which geometric (and/or metabolic) characteristics of an object or organism are correlated to its size. Allometric scaling relationships typically manifest as power laws.

Infill Pattern and Density of 3D-Printed Insoles Alter Energy and Pressure Distribution in Gait

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Diabetic foot ulcer patients are usually unaware of excessive pressure on their feet due to lost pressure sensitivity. Offloading insoles are used to alleviate foot pain.

Simplified local infill size optimization for FDM printed PLA parts

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
The great advantage of additive manufacturing is the fact that hollowed parts with a given infill can be created. However, the standardized commercial slicer software offers a uniform infill pattern creation solution.

Effect of Raster Angle and Infill Pattern on the In-Plane and Edgewise Flexural Properties of Fused Filament Fabricated Acrylonitrile–Butadiene–Styrene

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF) is a popular additive manufacturing process to produce printed polymer components, whereby their strength is highly dependent on the process parameters.

Optoelectronic Synaptic Devices Using Molecular Telluride Phase‐Change Inks for Three‐Factor Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Optoelectronic synaptic devices based on solution‐processed molecular telluride GST‐225 phase‐change inks are demonstrated for three‐factor learning. A global optical signal broadcast through a silicon waveguide induces non‐volatile conductance updates exclusively in locally electrically flagged memristors.
