Unified Plastic Analysis for Infilled Frames

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1985
Based on tests and nonlinear finite element analyses, a unified plastic analysis for infilled frames with three types of interface conditions is proposed, in which the stress redistribution towards collapse and the conditions at the infill‐frame interface are taken into account.

A MULTISCALE APPROACH FOR MODELING OF INFILLED FRAMES

Proceedings of the 5th International Conference on Computational Methods in Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering (COMPDYN 2015), 2015
The behavior of existing reinforced concrete buildings towards to the seismic actions is strongly affected by the infill walls. Although they assume an important role in the global response of the buildings, modeling of infilled frames is quite complex as a result of the many variables involved. These factors (such as the various constructive solutions;

Hysteretic Response of Reinforced‐Concrete Infilled Frames

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1992
Strengthening of framed reinforced concrete structures by cast‐in‐place reinforced concrete infills is commonly used in practice. The objective of this study is to investigate the behavior of such infilled frames under seismic loads. For this purpose, 14 two‐story, one‐bay infilled frames are tested under reversed cyclic loading simulating seismic ...

Modeling of Infilled Framed Structures

2013
This chapter presents an assessment of the behavior of infilled framed structures. The feasibility of possible immediate implementation of some recent developments both in analysis and design of infilled frames for practical design is investigated.

An analytical study on the behaviour of infilled RC frame with opening in infill

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2022
Abstract This study focuses on Reinforced Concrete infilled frames that are related with the high-rise buildings for analyzing the seismic effects. The high-rise buildings are focusing more on seismic effect due to the failure in masonry infills. The failures in the masonry infills are studied by many authors and the stiffness are also increased to ...

Inelastic Design of Infilled Frames

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1995
This paper describes a new method of analysis and design for steel frames with concrete or masonry infilling walls subjected to in-plane forces. The method is based on data generated from previous experiments as well as results from a series of nonlinear finite-element (NLFE) analyses.

PLASTIC DESIGN OF INFILLED FRAMES.

Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers, 1984
This paper introduces a method of plastic design for both non-integral and integral infilled frames. It begins with a brief summary of the non-linear behavior of infilled frames, on the basis of which a unified plastic theory is proposed for both non-integral and integral infilled frames, taking into account the formation of plastic hinges in the frame,

Earthquake Resistance of Infilled Frames

Journal of the Structural Division, 1978
The experimental phase consists of quasistatic cyclic load tests on one-third scale model subassemblages of the lower three stories of an 11-story, three-bay frame with infills in the two outer bays: (1)Frame members (particularly the columns) are designed for high rotational ductility and resistance to degradation under reversed cyclic shear loads; (2)

Lateral Stiffness of Infilled Frames

Journal of the Structural Division, 1962
Methods for predicting approximate lateral stiffness of single and multistory frames; stiffness of frames is considered by assuming equivalent diagonal strut to replace infill; effective width for equivalent strut is derived theoretically and checked by model experiments.

Seismic performance and frame-infill interaction of masonry-infilled reinforced concrete frames

2015
Reinforced concrete frames infilled with masonry walls are the most popular building in the world. They are often built offices, schools, hospitals, and dwellings, and other kinds of residential and public buildings. However, the excessive damages from past earthquakes have repeatedly proved the instability of this building system and alerted us to ...
