Simplified seismic assessment of infilled RC frame structures

Bulletin of Earthquake Engineering, 2019
Earthquake-induced structural damage, characterised by the exceedance of different damage states during ground shaking, is typically quantified using fragility curves generated through non-linear dynamic analyses often requiring a large computational effort.

MID1.0: Masonry Infilled RC Frame Experimental Database

2018
Experimental campaigns are a key tool for the evaluation of the behaviour of Masonry Infilled Reinforced Concrete (RC) frames. The case of masonry infills in RC frames is also a regional feature making the homogenous classification for a database a real challenge. This first attempt of a Masonry Infill Database (MID) includes a preliminary selection of

Influence of infill wall in RC frames

Engineering for Rural Development, 2023
The function of infilled masonry reinforced concrete (RC) frame buildings during severe events such as blast caused by explosions or earth movement – earthquake and other significant lateral displacement could seriously damage a supporting frame column, causing the frame to collapse completely or partially.

Seismic performance of RC frames strengthened by RC infill walls

Advances in Structural Engineering, 2021
This study presents the shake-table tests of a 1/5-scaled RC frame retrofitted with RC infill walls. The intensity of input ground motions increased gradually to comprehensively evaluate the structural seismic behavior. We performed a comparison of the results from the RC frame with masonry walls and that with RC walls.

FRP Seismic Strengthening of Infilled RC Frames

2023
Recent seismic events demonstrated the high vulnerability of existing reinforced concrete (RC) buildings in the Mediterranean area. This is related to the lack of proper seismic details and to the brittle response of hollow clay brick infills. The high stiffness of infills may significantly modify the structural response, reducing the period of ...

Seismic Reliability of Masonry-Infilled RC Frames

Journal of Structural Engineering, 2001
This study focuses on the probabilistic assessment of reinforced concrete (RC) frames infilled with clay brick walls and subjected to earthquake loading. The adopted methodology extends from that previously developed by the writers for bare RC frames by the introduction of additional random variables to account for the uncertainty in the masonry ...

Experimental Evaluation of Masonry-Infilled RC Frames

Journal of Structural Engineering, 1996
The influence of masonry infill panels on the seismic performance of reinforced concrete (RC) frames that were designed in accordance with current code provisions are investigated. Two types of frames are considered. One was designed for wind loads and the other for strong eqrthquake forces.

Seismic Risk Assessment of Fly Ash Brick and AAC Block Masonry Infilled RC Frame Buildings Designed for Modern Codes

Journal of earthquake engineering
This paper investigated the seismic performance of reinforced concrete (RC) frame buildings designed for modern Indian seismic codes, with fly ash brick and autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) block masonry infills.

EFFECTS OF “REINFORCED” INFILLED FRAMES ON EXISTING RC BUILDINGS

Proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Computational Methods in Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering (COMPDYN 2013), 2014
This paper presents some considerations about the role of strengthening interventions involving the solidarization of the infill panels to the RC frame on the seismic retrofitting of existing buildings. Within this context, an appraisal of the actual resulting displacement capacity and of possible alteration induced on the global collapse mechanism and
